No problem. I found all the VHS tapes during the first lockdown and made digitizing them a COVID project. Glad other people are enjoying the nostalgia. Hopefully other races turn up. Really hoping to find a copy of the 1992 CASCAR race from Windsor.

@@danlloydrules . Not sure if you checked out the Windsor Checker flag races on my channel , my vhs tapes were in boxes for 25 years and was surprised they were ok >> a lot of people were sad that our track closed

@@plastic1492 I did see the races you posted and plan to watch them over the break. I had the same experience with the VHS tapes. Some from the mid 90s were sketchy, but I found a Checker Flag tape from 1985 at my parents' place that played perfectly. I'll get that posted at some point. My memories of Checker Flag are pretty vague. I was there a lot, but too young to remember much of it.

@@danlloydrules I have the 1985 Molson 100 that was on tsn >> is that the one your parents have ?
@danlloydrules4 жыл бұрын
@@plastic1492 No. The night I have is dated July 9 can from the local cable broadcast (Trillium?). It is just a regular night for racing, but with a stunt driver jumping off a ramp onto cars on the front stretch after the races.

That was the Mckerley millen classic Bud 200, from 1993.

I checked and I don't have that one from 1993. But I do have 6 others from 1993 and a Thompson Cayuga win from 1997. I'll keep posting different stuff as time permits. It's just cool to see some interest in these races.

@@danlloydrules nothing beats old school CASCAR racing. This is what was cool back when I was a kid.

@@crazykellywfo4240 Agreed. It was how I was able to see most of Canada and meet a lot of good people despite being a university kid with minimal mechanical ability.

Hey Danny boy do you know why they replaced Don Mallat in the 16????? Thought he was a good driver?
@danlloydrules3 жыл бұрын
That's a great question given the way they phrased it in the broadcast. I always thought it was a completely different team running the 16 when Mallat stopped with CASCAR, but apparently not. Next guess - money. Turner brought more sponsor money. But that's a total guess. Mallat was certainly a good driver. He finished 4th in CASCAR points a couple years before this race. I'm from Windsor. He won a lot locally and was always mentioned here with Jack Monaghan, Bob Merrifield and others like that.

This is the best I've ever seen Bob Merrifield run > even though he didn't win .

Actually I'm thinking of a different race. It was sunny and Don Thompson Jr. Was leading throughout most of the day.
