Here is the 1993 Budweiser 500 from Dover, DE. I apologize, the last 10 laps and post-race are not included. The VCR was setup to record for 5 hours and (shockingly) the race broadcast was more than 5 hours. The races at Dover in the early 90's caused the track to live up to the monicker "the Monster Mile." Today, they might as well call Dover the Mundane Mile because the races are brutally dull. Enjoy this one from 1993!

52 year old Dave Marcis puts his scarcely sponsored car on the 9th row, ahead of Elliot, Waltrip, Labonte, et al. Dude was the real deal.

Same thing happened to me when I asked my Mom to record the second Dover race for me. I didn't get a chance to see the end of that race until many years later, lol. Also, I've been looking for this race for quite a while. Thanks! =)

This place and Rockingham shortened their races to 400 miles because it was taking 5+ hours to run the 500 miles

Me as well. Was 9. Made trek from Wisconsin. Alan Kulwicki was our families driver back then. He had just passed away and was defending Champ this whole season but deceased. Jimmy Hensley drove for Kulwicki this day. I was excited to see that. To see #3 win is still a swell of a chest up to this day when I can say I was lucky to see #3 win.

The VCR was set to record for 5 hours and the race was longer than that. Dale Earnhardt beat Dale Jarrett by less than a second. Here are the full results of the race: www.racing-reference.info/race-results/1993_Budweiser_500/W/

Tim Brewer crew chief for Bobby Labonte. No wonder Bill Elliott had a bad year.

Michael Gentry Tim shouldered the responsibility for losing the championship by 10 points the previous year. At Atlanta he called Bill into the pits two laps early and Terry Labonte led those laps costing them the championship. He left the Junior Johnson team and all parties struggled for many seasons.

I thought Alan Kulwicki led those laps. I must've missed something

@@ck7813 Tim Brewer did not leave Junior Johnson of his own volition -- Junior fired him before the #11 team had even started to load the hauler.

@@michaelgentry4908 Kulwicki waited until lap 309 to pit, knowing that the 103 laps he had just led (206-308) equaled the best Elliott could do by leading 309-328. Jerry Punch, Bob Jenkins, and Benny Parsons had all expected that Kulwicki would have to pit on lap 306 to avoid running out, but he stretched it three additional laps to at least deny Elliott the five points for leading the most laps.
