On the day of the filming, most of the students along with their parents, siblings and cast members,
travelled to the RTE studios in Donnybrook on a bus. Upon arrival, they were split into performers
and audience members, with the performers waiting in a back room. The order of performances was
confirmed and the recording began.
Five students had the opportunity to sit on the couch and chat with Gerry Ryan. First up was Gary
Foley who talked about his dad Eamon and his job as a Garda. Gary introduced John Brennan who
read a poem ‘My Book’.
Stephanie Power was up next to talk about the school’s success in the Tidy Towns competition and
her dad Richie winning the hurling final. Stephanie introduced Kelly Molyneaux and Linda Hanlon to
sing ‘Heal the World’.
Andrew O’Sullivan was the third to sit on the couch with Gerry and talk about his love for movies
and finding bones like arrow heads in the woods near the Ennisnag bridge. Andrew introduced his
classmate, Sean Fennelly, to sing ‘Sit down’ by James. Gerry was very impressed by such a tricky
song.
Next up was Emma Long chatting about the game of golf and her dad’s job building golf courses with
Jack Nicklaus. Emma introduced Debbie Foley, Collette O’Leary, Vivienne King and Mary Sheehan to
sing ‘A Stór, A Stór, A Ghrá’.
Finally, Phillip Dicker came out talking about his dad’s job as an AI man and exploring Franey’s den
with Andrew. Philip introduced the final act, the set dancers.
