1994 525i E34 BMW BARN FIND CLEAN UP - BLACK BEAUTY LIVES!

After a few years of sitting I decided to get my 1994 e34 525i BMW running. I have had this car for 15+ years and it has more than 300,000 miles! Looking forward to restoring it one day. Fun video with my boys getting it going. Oddly satisfyingly barn find clean up. Enjoy!

You don’t do that, you change the oil first, then you change the filter and put fresh gasoline in and finally you check the spark plugs!!!!

К сожалению всё в этом мире стареет, как и мы с тобой. И сейчас таких машин уже делать не умеют и думаю что никогда они уже не вернутся. Теперь это уже мусорник старый. Про упомянутые тобой Мазды или простигосподи Солярисы я и говорить не хочу. Кстати, всякие там Солярисы у нас вообще не популярны, их просто нет. Я не в России живу. I always loved the E34. Such a classic body style! Outside of possible fuel starvation, that stalling issue sounds typical of a vacuum leak. Check all of those intake boots behind the air filter. If they are cracked or bitten into that will cause a vacuum leak. P.S. you are lucky the critters did not chew any of the harnesses. That would have definitely driven you in circles! Overall, the engine sounds healthy. If you have low compression in one cylinder, it can’t be that bad! Hope you can drive her again one day.

It really speaks to the quality and design aesthetics of BMW that a twenty-six year old, 300+ K mile family hauler looks so good and runs so well. I had a 1985 535i with a manual transmission. Best car ever. I should have kept it.

The famous VANOS bump of the M52. The older M50 engine was more raw. I had this engine in my E36 coupé when I was 23. Mine had that wistle tone on idle too. I liked it so I never fixed it. The stock muffler E34 525i produced a very deep sound in the low revs when taking off in first gear. Greetzz from Netherlands. 🇳🇱

Best thing to do, is when a car has sat for a long time, check the spark plugs, put a bit of oil to the cylinders, so the cylinders dont freeze or get damaged and last check the oil and filter💯that will help a bunch if you do that

U should add some fresh fuel. I killed 3 fuel pumps on e30 because of that. Car was sitting for 7 years and fuel turned to petroleum. And chewed up 3 brand new pumps, until i reallyized whats the problem

I have a 1990 e34 - 535. Was a daily driver until I bought a much needed Silverado to get parts for home maintenace. Quite frankly, it could still be a daily driver. I'll be taking it to work tomorrow and leave the truck at home. :)

I bought a 1990 520i (M50) that had been stood for 12 years. With 12 year old petrol it started and ran with a good battery, but badly. So I banged in some decent secondhand plugs, a gallon of super unleaded and it ran fine. It needed to run for half an hour to settle on all six and to stop the lifter tick.

That poor motor... was painful to watch! :-/ This car deserves to be loved, looked after and restored. Cars like this are not made anymore and will never be made again, so cherish her! It will cost a bit to restore her but, its a sound investment as these things are only going to go up in value. I had an E34 back in 2007/8 and I regret selling it. I am going to hang onto my E39 forever, it is one of the last pre-computerised BMWs made where the driver has full control of everything.

Favorite part is when you son blips the throttle some then smiles at you. That was the moment he really got into it. You should have took him for a spin up and down the street. It doesn't look like there's a cop around your house for miles. I remember when I got my Supra running I called my insurance company and added it to the policy on the spot. Took it for many shakedown runs while I fixed this and that. Had no current registraion/inspection.

I have my 1990 Icelandic Green 525I with 5-speed manual transmission that I bought new when stationed in Germany. I just installed a rebuilt engine, having put 297,000 miles on the original; had door panels reupholstered in leather and have essentially kept the car in good condition. It’s still an enjoyable car to drive. I plan to put a turbo in it once I have some miles on the motor. Your car has been neglected-sad, as these are good cars.

Nice car. Keep it running. It is rewarding. Mainly because in your country it is easier to maintain vehicles of that age. Here in Brazil it is absolutely unfeasible due to costs. Dude im no mechanic but watch alot of videos and the first thing other people do is check the fluids. And when you removed the filter from intake there were loose straw that could be sucked into the intake

I would recommend that you change the oil before it's too late. You should have changed it before trying to start it. You also need a new fuel filter. Hopefully the pump has not been killed yet. Also avoid keep trying to start it as the starter will burn

sick, i had the same car in white when i was 23, ran that thing ragged as possible, straight bulletbroof.. replaced a water pump and the break pads only , 100k of straight beat i layed on that.. bimmers such glory stick and e34 maybe the best looking car of all time as far as i'm concered.. Congrats.. Really wanna manual swap 94 540i with 99k miles on it, needs body tlc bigtime.. good luck with it sir

They are solid puppy's, I had to engine break mine at 130 limiter coming down a hill 4th , 3rd , 2nd to power slide a turn once lol, they're are certainly track bred cars, balanced like no other.. e34's going for big dollar's nowadays, rightfully so... Terrible in automatic, my dad had picked a 95 525 auto around the same time and the thing was a total lemon... Never designed to be auto in the motherland.. Poor BMW. For real. Poor starter (not the kid's fault). How to start a car with NO GAS and the few drops in the tank have old gas. Under the hood there was the smurf's village.
