@Holden308 Thanks for the info. The 83 GT championship startline crash at Adelaide features in my Classic Aussie Motorsport Crash Collection vid I posted. Shame to see so many nice cars wiped out metres from the Start!

@barelybang No worries re: the Monza. Brock actually raced that car in 1982 in the Aussie GT title. Trenoweth's Jag, so far as I know, is the ex John McCormack car that Trenoweth acquired and ran in the Aussie GT's in the mid-80's. I think the 5.3L V12 was taken out to 6 litres during that time. The Jag exists to this day (September '11) but no idea about the Monza.

I would love to get hold of some of the races broadcast from 1983-84 in both the Aussie GT and Sports Car Championships. Seeing the Romano WE8 Cosworth race would be a great thing. Sadly, while there are GT video's floating around on here, seeing Bap Romano's car, the late Peter Hopwood's Kaditcha and Chris Clearihan's Kaditcha racing would be great. Those and the Veskanda Chev driven by John Bowe so successfully.

That Chevy Monza (which runs a 6.0L V8) was also driven to the national Sports Sedans/GT title back in 1984 by none other than Allan Grice and in 85 by Bryan Thomspon (who also owned/drove that Merc). Its tailshaft broke right after the start of the Adelaide round of the 83 GT Championship while Peter Brock was driving causing a start line pile-up.

The Monza Brock raced was the Bob Jane Monza, and entirely different [and a lot faster car] That car was in that race with Des Wall with a Supra body. Finished 4th from memory. The Jag was the evolution of McCormacks car which Mark now runs as an historic. The Alfa and the Escort are both K&A built cars. Bailey won with his no2 engine as he broke the good one on Friday. Traction control helps! Though a very good steerer helps more! The track started greasy and towards the end was nearly wet, great fun on slicks,,NOT.

Listening to the commentary, it has not got better. Hoffy and Eastlake. The Jane/ Brock/ Thommo Monza was there,,, as the red late Supra with Des Wall. To confuse things Thommo was driving the Benz. Bailey made it look easy with his second engine,, there was a form of traction control in the ECU. But a VERY good drive . A lot of the cars in that race are still around. The Briggs Honda is owned by Charlie Senese, The Alfa is still winning championships in Tony Ricciadellos hands, The Escort is still around though with a Nissan turbo. Thommos Benz is back in Victoria, I think Walls still have the Supra, My XU1 is still around going slowly! The Rosenberg owned VL that crashed is in Darwin. I think Imrie still has the slow Monza. a museum piece that was ever raced about twice. Does anyone know what happened to Jeff Barnes Monza?
