The 300zx Service Manual is very clear on the steps needed to properly bleed the clutch system. There is a secondary bleeder valve by the Power Steering reservoir which was not utilized in your process, hence the reason why you had such a difficult time getting the air out of the system (I would be surprised if you managed to get all the air out using only the bleeder valve on the slave cylinder). For anyone interested, the pertaining section in the 300zx Service Manual is the Clutch Section (CL), more specifically: CL-8 "Bleeding Procedure".

excellent vid. I am now myself replacing my 94 300ZX clutch at 98k. Many great explanations of the smaller details in this vid. With 98k the drive shaft center bearing was feeling a little loose also so considering the cost of bearing,3 new u-joints plus press in/out labor I decided to go with a one piece shaft for the same price. excellent vid........thumbs up #306

Originally was trying to find another video I had seen on what to/what not to grease, but I'm happy I found this one of the entire process instead. Mine is TT, but it doesn't seem like the job will be any different, aside from couple of upgrades along the way. I'd love the luxury of a lift. I get to do mine with around a foot and a half or so of space off the ground.

One thing you didn't touch on in the bleeding procedure, is that the Nissan 300zx has not one but two bleed valves. The lower valve is on the slave cylinder and other other is on the passenger fender right next to the HICAS Valve. The second valve really helps relieve air stuck in the system higher up.

On some of these older 300zx's they had a clutch dampener line that runs to the passenger front fender tub. If you cant get it to bleed out completely, try bleeding this line also.

FYI You forgot to mention the bleeder up by the super HICAS system on true Z32 TT's.

what is he using to get the top bolts of the transmission off and where can I buy it? It was a pain getting those out, I had to connect 2 wrenches together and unbolt it from the hood.

hey, great to see a great car becoming great again. i heard the clutch replacement costs about $4500 in the 300zx TT, its not cheap to drive one of these cars.
@BenjiXbass8 жыл бұрын
+Martin Luther (Martin Luther 1543) About 1/4th of that price.
@Brian-le7wb6 ай бұрын
Not at all that expensive if you have a trustworthy mechanic do the installation.

Ya the car in the vid is obviously an NA so they dont have the line I mentioned.. But if you ever do a TT model the line is there where I described on the passenger side of the engine bay.

Hi, just question you always replace the flywheel. I did my 95 240sx I just refine the flywheel and is working with out problem but I never replace the slave or the cylinder but I feel little free play at the pedal, can be because the flywheel? or just need to adjust the pedal?..
@The300ZXGuru10 жыл бұрын
***** Dont forget the 300zx has a pedal adjustment you can move by losing two nuts. This typically allows for adjustment of the pedal once all the new parts are installed. O and yeah BTW you can use a socket to install the new pilot bushing. What ever you do DO NOT REPEAT DO NOT use a needle type bushing. It will screw up your imput shaft. Hope this helps.

He didn't know that there is a bleeder valve on the front passenger side under the hood. It would've made his job much easier.

I have a question. I'm replacing the clutch on my 300 at home and I have the flywheel and clutch assembly bolted up, the transmission is up but the input shaft is not fully seated inside of the clutch assembly so I cannot bolt the transmission to the engine, could the probably be a misaligned clutch disk or am I missing something?

i have a 1994 300zx NA MT and everytime i shift my rpms drop by 1k after it catches and then it takes forever for the car to get up to speed. i did a compression and vacuum test on it and the engine is running perfect but sometimes the car does catch gears without dropping rpms and actually speeds up pretty fast so i doubt its the gear box. could there be something wrong with my clutch assembley? great video btw *****

Juan Cadena Definatly something with the motor, check all electrical connections I mean everywere its usually the first culprit with green corrosion, these cars arre old now almost all of them have corroded wiring at this point.

These slave cylinders for Z-cars go out once a year. OE Nissan or nothing evidently, because you guys can't make hydraulics that last on a Z to save yourselves.
