I am planning on buying 98 celsior tomorrow. I have one concern, and that is the interior space. I am 6'6'' and curious if headspace is going to be an issue. What do you think? Have taller people sat in your car? Or have you heard anything about the ls400/celsiors for tall people?

Love that bongo van! I finally got My Hiace. 3.5 -interior B exterior c with just a few scratches. 1996 Hiace living saloon ex. 100000km 4 sunroof. 200,000 yen. from auction. So happy! I learned a lot from your videos.

Man that's clean, wish we had cloth seats instead of leather in the US spec models. What doesn't come across in the video is how well made this car is, stuff like the paint quality is hard to capture on camera. I'm betting the paint on this 25 year old car looks nicer than any new Toyota sitting at the dealership in Japan right now except maybe something like a Century.

My favorite generation of the LS/Celsior. It was more "chiseled" than Gen 1. Really like the wool/cloth seats too.

holy smokes, that is a great example, and surprising the seller didn't even know the half of what they were selling XD looks great, and super low km so that's a win for sure.

I think the sticker on the side of the seat was to help the mechanics put the seat back into the correct position for the customer once they were finished.

Nice review, I have the same car but it was sold to me as a '95, same colour but my seats are blue/grey along with the dash etc, had it two years now. Mine had no dents but a few spots where the Alpine silver paint had worn a bit thin. 66,000 km's , a few more than this one and now has 90km on the clock. I don't have any of the rear seat trickery featured either, zero, but it does have the air suspension option which firms up as you raise the suspension. An odd feature but it still works well . Worth noting is the seat fabric in the car featured is not standard ' Camry Velour ' but 100% pure brushed wool. Way to tell is flip down the centre rear armrest and there'll be a tag inside which has the 100% wool symbol on it. Who needs a E500 when you can have something that's probably rarer and is still good for a genuine 150mph , more reliable and a hell of a lot cheaper to buy. And, as quiet as a cathedral . What it doesn't have is the X factor but I still get the occasional thumbs up and second glance from other drivers, that keeps me happy.

0:05 I believe you mean "UCF20" as I don't believe Toyota has a UCF21 in the Toyota Celsior/LS lineup that I know of. But really, that looks like a 1995-1997, not 1994 which would be a "UCF10" anyway. Interesting.
@PacificCoastAuto
@PacificCoastAuto 5 жыл бұрын
UCF20 and UCF21 are the same car. The difference is that the 20 has springs and the 21 has airbag suspension. This is registered as a 1994 but in some countries they call their 1994 cars "1995 models".
@DigitalBathInAZ
@DigitalBathInAZ 5 жыл бұрын
@@PacificCoastAuto Interesting. I would never have guessed they'd have an internal chassis/model code difference because of suspension options. Doesn't the VIN dictate the model year? Would the the 10th digit if memory serves. Regardless, i thought but manufacturer dictated their model years of the cars they produce. I dunno. I just know in the US that car in the video was a '95 model year, '94 being last year of UCF10. Maybe Toyota did things differently for JDM vs NA market. Regardless, really cool video. Thank you.

i would not agree that the E500 is the better car and i have a 1999 LS and a 2005 E55, it's certainly much faster and perceived as being "better" though lol

any celsior users out there can comment on any electrical issues ( faulty ECUs, leaking capacitors etc ) .... Are these really as common as people out there seem to state ? And if yes, any comments on how difficult it is to do diagnostics, replacing ( ECUs or capacitors ) ? I really like the vehicle but my biggest fear is that electrical issues ( from what i've read on the web ) are very very common on Celsiors and can make the ownership a miserable experience. I've read people had all sorts of issues due to electronics failing: ACs not working, window regulators, throttle response, air valves and what not, transmission acting funny to vehicles just not starting all together ....

That's neat. It would have been sold as a 1995 model year but sold in late 1994. In Japan, we don't have the same "model year" thing so a car sold in 1994 is registered as a 1994.

I suppose it's Toyota's competition with the S-Class. I prefer it over the S-class quite a bit as an overall car. Though the S-Class has value in the badge that the Toyota can't match. On the flip side, the Toyota will be more reliable over time.

Yes. It wasn't quite as big as the 90's boxy Benz S-class though. Personally give me the Lexus any day of the week, its better built, doesn't break down as often and isn't nearly as expensive when it does go to the shop.

I would say for the condition, lower mileage, more features, better price for what one pays for with Celsiors vs the LS or really just for the sake of wanting to be on the right side of the car.
