Opening the packs & placing then near a humidifier for a few minutes works. Moisture works the best for bricking

Great set, I'm a bigger fan of the 1995 set but I got a good deal on this box. Just be careful if you get one because it'll most likely be bricked if it wasn't stored properly.

I've been putting packs in the freezer in a ziplock bag for 30+ minutes before opening recently and that seems to help

this brings me back. I have a complete set of all the 94' regulars, about 80% of the foils. I have always wondered what it is worth, most in near mint to mint condition, sleeved in a binder and been in a box in for the last 30 years. The 94' set had some of the best art of all the other sets, with a mix of retro and high detail art. I have been debating whether to sell or keep, but it is really hard to find accurate pricing. I still remember the frustration I felt, having opened hundreds of packs, having to buy a common White Queen card from my local comic shop. If interested, I am pretty sure I have duplicates of most of the cars, but am scared to see if they are bricked together, since I kept my duplicates in the same sleeve.

When I bought some boxes off of eBay a few years back to try and get some chase cards, I had the same problem with them being bricked.

perhaps instead of the slam method you could try something heat based. I was thinking a heat gun , but that does introduce the possibility of burning the cards. another thought was to put the whole pack in in a sealed bag and literally sous-vide them in a warm water bath. I have no idea what temperature stuff should be but just maybe it might help save some of these vintage card packs.
@nexuscards Жыл бұрын
Heat is rough because the foiling on a lot of the cards. Either way there will be residue on the backs so they’re gonna be damaged no matter what which is rough.

I bought a couple packs off eBay to test if they were bricked up, and sadly they were. I looked at a collection of base cards on Amazon, and I realized there was only about 12 I liked. Seems like these are not as cool as I remembered them as a kid. I think I’ll stick with modern cards like Marvel Platnum, Flair and Midnight Sons.

i have absolutley no idiea what im about to even talk about but i would experiment with some of the packs in trying to recover as much as one could... maybe a little alocohol or something alcohol based like perfume could help make the sticky parts go loose without riping texture off. just saying. Very satisfying video :D

I saw a video after posting this one that shows a way of reintroducing moister into the packs to reduce bricking. Haven’t tried it myself but it seems to work.

Can’t believe I stumbled onto these videos I’ve been thinking the last few years to re-collect my 92-96 collections. I definitely had the entire 92 and 96 set, 99% complete at the least. I told my mom she could donate them to a thrift store when I was in college🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ can’t tell you how many times my dad took me to Toys R’ Us and Kaybee toys to get packs. Subscribed!! Any recommendations on how/where to start the rebuild?
@nexuscards8 ай бұрын
You can buy full sets for around $50-$70 on eBay for the 1992-94. The 96 set is extremely expensive because of the low print run. But yeah luckily the other sets are pretty cheap on eBay take a look and welcome back to the hobby!

My mint condition collection (save for one Fatal Attraction with a tiny bit of damage in the corner) is still sitting nicely up on a shelf. Funny story: My brother was desperate for the Storm team card. I had a spare. So, I took advantage of his desperation and traded 100 of his spares (and one or two I didn't have) for his much-desired Storm card. Next week, he bought a pack and hey presto - got the Storm card. An argument ensued as he tried to reverse the trade. 🤣

The problem is the pressure put on these cards from having things stacked on top of the boxes and gloss coating makes them really stick. Especially on this set

It's hard to tell in the video, what is the damage that happens when they are bricked? Parts of the printed card get torn off when you separate them? On the video they look great ! 😅
@nexuscards Жыл бұрын
Little bits are stuck together so there are spots of white all over the cards where the printing is pulled off on both sides. Some of them turned out okay but when you hear that crinkling sound it's the surface coming off on other cards. Thanks for watching man!
