The original (where you used a locking nut) had a nut with an L shape piece of metal welded to a nut. The L locks it in place so it's a 1 hand operation.

@Matthew Harvey Yeah that L bracket is hard to find unless you go to a salvage yard. So I just tried the next best thing hopefully. Okay Okay 9 hours, at least you didn't give you. @michael von ahnen First off I would like to say thank you. The Toyota Corolla Cross is going to be a wonderful addition to the Toyota brand. I Like the new and freshness of it but it still has a lot of the older Camry Styling. I personally think the Corolla Cross will do fine. It will compete with the market. I like the roominess, ground height and the accessories that it will come with. I am kinda excited I can't wait to see the price. @Carlo Vincetti LOL!! I do agree but I live 20 miles from the nearest junkyard. All of our yards got bought out by LKQ. Thats not how the bolt goes it goes the other way bro with a locking nut to pull it tight!

No sir, I tried it the other way and the frame got in the way because the bolt was to long

I’m in the process of doing this same job and I lost the alternator nut that the bolt screws into. I noticed it’s different from the one you have. The original Nissan one has more of an “L” shape to it so it kind of wraps around the top of the alternator. When I say I lost it I meant it’s lost somewhere in the engine bay. I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Are there any pockets where it might have slipped into? I can’t find it anywhere and I’m worried it’s going to get lodged somewhere behind a pulley.
