Wow talk about nostalgia!!! I was in 5th grade for this game and I remember being devastated for a moment when I thought Bailey caught that ball, I was like are you for real??? 2 years in a row, losing on the last play?? Glad it worked out but to fall short in the bowl... So much ups and downs as a Steelers fan in the 90s...

Yes no kidding. Today's stuff cannot compare. NBC was so good at story telling and these epic intros. Dick Ebersol and the NBC production crew really was so good at story telling with the NFL and Olympics and NBA in 1990s. They were so epic the eye for detail they had.

I miss it as well. Was such an epic theme. In August 2013 almost 10 years ago shortly after I moved into my house I made a post that it would have been great if Enberg Maguire and SImms were still doing NBC games and the great theme was still used in HDTV. The video I forget what it was was removed long ago though.

We Indianapolis sports fans had been through quite the roller coaster in sports during the '90s. The Pacers went to the Eastern Conference Finals in 1994, 1995, 1998, and 1999 only to be stopped short of the NBA Finals. They made it to the Finals in 2000 only to lose to the Lakers. In the midst of all this was one unforgettable season by the Colts. And, throughout these times, we were always the scrappy underdogs and never the dominant, favored teams. That year, the Colts played all of their playoff games on the road, first at San Diego, then Kansas City, and finally at Pittsburgh. I think that's the downside of the NFL playoffs vs. other sports. Even when the Pacers did not have home-court advantage in a playoff series, they still got to play some games at home. I was at a couple of those games, and the atmosphere was electric. In case you have never been to Indianapolis, the venues for the Colts and Pacers (the old venues that were in use back then as well as the current ones) are within walking distance of each other downtown. They are mere blocks apart. So, downtown Indianapolis can be a festive and exciting place when our major teams are on top or when we host big events like the Final Four and Gen Con. We also have a AAA baseball stadium and a USL soccer stadium (with a new one in the works) very near where the Colts in particular play, so that adds to the excitement downtown. Unfortunately, our ECHL hockey team is moving to the suburbs instead of coming downtown.

One of the most underrated games in my NFL lifetime (1985-present). Was compelling and competitive from start to finish. Colts had definitely shown themselves to belong and they went out there and showed Pittsburgh too. Quentin Coryatt's dropped game ending INT probably still stings in Nap City.

@goblue853 жыл бұрын
@@chrisguardiano6143 yeah, but I think the main thing for them is that they’re not going to lose the NFL again, I was hoping they were going to split the NHL with ESPN like Fox did back in the 90s, but not to be.
@Wolverine607 Жыл бұрын
@@goblue85 Yes that is the main thing for sure as the NFL is huge in of itself and they will not lose it again at least for 10 years with the new deals running through 2023 or 2033 or something. If they had been able to keep the NFL with AFC contract after 1997 even had they lost the NBA and MLB down the road, they would have been in much better shape from 2002 through 2006 then they mess they were where they had no major sports at all. Yes they had ND football, but only home games and ND at that time was mired in inconsistency and some dark days. Even CBS when they had no major pro sports form 1994-1997 they still had a huge crown in March Madness and some CFB football, but nothing else.

The Steelers might have been only 3 yards shy the year before, but the Colts were only an inch or two shy with Aaron Bailey not securing the ball in the end zone on the final play. I thought he had it for a moment, and my dad and I were celebrating until they ruled no catch. We watched from our home in Indianapolis. I was 16 at the time.

my biggest moment of sadness as a Colts fan was Super Bowl XLIV, especially Porter's pick six. But still... a no catch for the win is bigger in my book. Game had no instant replay and some ref mistakes on both sides: Kordell Stewart's TD, Jeson Belser's pass interference...

This is single-handedly the best theme in the past 30 years. Only better/same level as this one is NBC in 93’ & 94’, CBS in 2000-02’, NBC in 2016 for TNF & FOX’s present one. CBS’ is kinda mid & NBC fell off in their touch of making good themes. ESPN’s is also garbage for MNF but people will get mad at me cuz I called the MNF theme mid. I think the only reason people call is good is because it’s been there from the start & gives nostalgia from the 80’s & 90’s.
