How you gonna call a car with 260whp a sleeper?
@SudeennnSam
@SudeennnSam 5 жыл бұрын
CNVQ take away the spoiler and replace the rims, you wont be able to tell the difference between a regular Caprice & Impala SS. Thats why its a sleeper. Its an unassuming sedan with higher horsepower that people can mistake it for a regular grandpa Caprice. And no. The term ‘sleeper cars’ doesn’t necessarily belong on 400HP vehicles only. This was 1995, when 250HP on a sedan was considered big numbers, and 400HP was still considered supercar territory. Even the 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B had 276HP. So, if you’re saying this Impala is not a sleeper because it only makes 260HP, then your argument is invalid

The LT1 and derivative were among the last 350’s that made the “heartbeat” sound. I understand the later cars are more desirable, because of updates, but knowing my way around these cars, I believe the overall highest quality ones were the first model year. By 96 you were hearing about pretty serious quality issues, especially with the interior trim, power windows etc. Not that any of this would stop me from buying another one. My last one was an early 95 in black, which I took to Mexico and got a custom leather headliner installed in. The guy I sold it to put a T56 manual transmission in it, and built a TPI 383 for it. I Can. Not. Believe. that my 2017 CX-9 is heavier than this car. If you like this car, I’d appreciate your review of a 90 model 454SS truck. Have a feeling you would like it. 230 hp? Yes. (So they say) Burn both rear tires completely off the truck? Absolutely.

The car is indeed excellent, but the weak spot is that Gen II small block. Has reliability issues in the valve train. Mine drove me nuts. I swapped in a LS2 out of a mid 2000s Vette. Not only more powerful (360 HP on the dyno) but totally reliable. Compact size gave me room for mid-length headers. Mine has Borla exhaust and a mild street cam.

Hey Kyle, do a comparison between the Impala ss and a 2003 Marauder. It would be neat to see both cars side by side in a thorough comparison/mutual review. I don't think there is anything like that here on KZbin yet.

I notice it has the police car “Certified” speedometer. I’m wondering if it was swapped in or if it’s not a true SS and a really clean Caprice clone.

The cluster was swapped out from a 9C1 Caprice, hence the 'Certified' under the speedometer. This makes the actual mileage suspect.

Yes the impalas are cool but people just like that name and go crazy about them. I'd rather have a nice Fleetwood or 9c1

Thank you Kyle. This was a good review. It was informative too. It is sad they do not build large cars like this anymore or others. The closet thing is a Cadillac CT6, but it comes up short in the trunk space. We live in a suv or crossover world. I learned something about you as well.
