I attended the 1986 Windstar symposium. Nearly 40 years later, our society seems to have lost not only a man and the wisdom in insight of his music but we have seen to have become lost in the dogma of a quickly changing world and threatening politics, job insecurity, and live on the edge of making a difference or the world blowing up.

❤ love this! His honesty and candor about playing the victim... And making a conscious choice to how he shows up and being proactive... Wow. Folks gave JD a hard time for his faults and mistakes... But he shows growth mindset here. So sad to think he never got to realize this fully😢

I was in the audience for this 1995 Windstar symposium. I had purchased the video by Sun Fire productions who had done the recording of the weekend. I lost everything in Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Thank you for putting this on you tube. I have been a long time fan of John Denver. He was an amazing artist and.human being. I am glad I was able to meet him in person.

I was in the audience, too, that day. I also got to thank him, shake hands with him, and get a fan photo taken. Great memories.

I attended Windstar in 1986 and forever touched. I came home and jumped into leadership roles with the local Sierra Club and for a several years was surrounded by postiive and energetic people.

I would do anything to be able to speak with John Denver about the things he spoke about in this excellent piece. Particularly the parts regarding the foolish pursuit of validation from others, rather than achieving genuine self-worth from one's own self-approval. I listen regularly to this particular talk in order to remind myself of this, and whenever I find myself placing any level of importance on the opinions others have of me - The irony being of course that their opinion and respect favourably rise immediately from the very moment I relinquish the value I placed upon it.

Beautiful speech and could listen to his soulful wisdom every day. 🌈❤️🌎I LOVED the heaven and hell story, and deciding NOT to be angry. I’ve always thought if we all can pitch in a little to make others feel good, and make a difference in society to help others, that I BELIEVE someday we will all be one.🙏🦋 I soooo wish Windstar was still around. I’d be right there to help work alongside others.🤚🤲🏻🌈❤️
