Here in Germany, the 300D were Standard with 5Speed Manual Transmission. Automatic was an Option. The w124 Came to the US only with Automatic, cause you cant drive Manual ones, because over 90% of all cars in the US are Automatic.

From 1988 onwards 300D in almost all EU countries became AUTO as standard,manual by special order.I know,I ordered one new in 1989 !

0:48 HA, I converted a 1986 190D 2.5 from auto to manual! Pulled all the parts from a 2.3 190, bolted everything together in a day. Where did you get the parts from for the E300?
