Funny to think this was an “acceptable” truck for a major hauler in a coastal city not so long ago. Now you’d only be able to see one in the most neglected of fleets deep out in the desert, and even that is a real treat. Compared to Apple Valley’s 310 this one sounds a lot healthier and vibrant, but still showing some age. It’s videos like these that remind us that whatever discomfort the driver has with you at the time won’t really matter in 10 years, and you’ll be glad you got that extra street after he said bye.

lol "that extra street after he said 'bye'" I always look back on experiences more fondly if they went well, and this one did, but you have a point. and it was still a big enough deal at this time that I rushed over to Oceanside as soon as I knew about this being at the yard, knowing it would only be there 6 months or less. but yep, times seem to change much too quickly. thanks for the comment!

Pretty darn neat. Those lime green WMX Cascades look fantastic. Spectacular catch!

What a fantastic surprise to find in my feed this morning. So many feelings of nostalgia when watching this. Amazing to think that these use to be a big piece of the wm fleet. The roar of the 310 (especially when manual packing) is just amazing. Also gotta love that classic air brake. Really really glad to see something like this again. Excellent video!

the engine is one of my favorites to hear purr but yes, those brake sounds are especially nostalgic too for me. thanks for the comment!

Well this was definitely a treat to see! Don't know how it could get any more classic with the white wheel Cascades and a 310 picking them up!

Wow man that thing is a beast man they don’t make them how they used to man. Although I am 99% sure that is a first addition Pete 320. The 310s got discontinued in 1990. But they are basically the same thing

thanks for the comment! as a refuse enthusiast community we've mostly agreed to just classify the slant cabs as 310s even though they're mostly 320s. Peterbilt didn't change the model number when they went from slant back to flat back cabs, but since that's a bigger difference and better age indicator than the square headlights and minor other differences between 310s and 320s, we have sort of bent the rules on our names for the models. yep, we make our own rules!

@@Trashman242 yes. They are really 320s but like you said we make our own rules and they basically look the exact same so who cares. Greta video man
