WI already looked the weaker team by the 92 Aus series. Australia for me was the better team even then. It was only Ambrose on Perth that won them then. Ambrose again won them the Perth test in 96-97 series but by then Aus was too far ahead of them. Also WI were already beatable by 88-89. Viv was no more the force he was in the 77-83 period. The big cat, the very underrated Lloyd was gone, Greenidge was last his best. Ambrose, Walsh were world class and comparable to earlier bowlers but Bishop/ Patterson/ Benjamin etc couldn't make up for the 80's quartet.

​@@firstal3799as per Malcolm Marshall, the last time WI actually dominated AUS was 1991 but yet again it wasn't coz the Windies were still the best in the business, it was simply coz Aussies were fatigued after their back-to-back Ashes triumphs, home series win against the top ranked pakistan and series against New Zealand in the past season and a half which preceded the '91 FW Trophy. By 1990 or so, Australia was in transition to become the world's most eminent cricket outfit coz of the rebuilding they had been undergoing since 1986 after Allan Border threatened to resign as captain if performances from the rest of the team didn't improve.

This one by far. The WI had not lost a series in 15 years. Australia played well but they were helped by the fact that Richardson was tactically an awful captain, that Desmond Haynes was dropped prior to the series because he had taken up a contract in SA in stead of the WICB first class tournament( he sued the WICB and won after this series) resulting in two brand new openers in the equivalent of a world championship fight and also the fact that Courtney Browne dropped Waugh on 42. Australia would not have made all those runs if had been dismissed on 42.

Mind you England won in Jamaica in 1990 and in Barbados in 1994 so it wasn’t impossible to win at those venues.

Teams did not start wearing coloured clothing in ODI'S in the Caribbean till 1998

Yeah back then coloured clothing and white balls were predominantly used in countries that had day/nighters. New Zealand being the exception. They first had them in 1981 but didn't have a day/nighter until 1996
