+Thomas Torre I still have my copy and I eagerly waited to get my hands on my very own Nintendo 64. When June 1997 rolled around, I received $200 from high school graduation gifts. I promptly went out and bought my N64 the next day. That was a very happy day for me. I can remember my mother saying to me how foolish it was to go out and buy one. She told me I didn't need a new Nintendo, but I didn't care. She didn't understand computers and technology as well as I did.

I remember when I saw Goldeneye 64 in a Nintendo Power magazine. I begged my mom for it, and she surprised me one day, handed me a bag, and told me to look inside. There it was... Pierce Brosnan's face staring at me. I was blown away by the game. There was nothing like it. Four player matches, precision aiming, tons of enemy death animations, enemy hitboxes (I liked shooting guys in the crotch and ass), and tons of replayability with speed runs and hidden levels. I also remember seeing Mission: Impossible and Turok in future Nintendo Power magazines, and remember saying how realistic the enemies looked, lol. Turok scared me when I was little, seeing a raptor emerging from the fog. I actually turned off my console before the raptor could get to me, before working up the nerve to try again. Turok was my first experience in the horror genre, if you could even call Turok that. That was until I played Resident Evil 2 on PS1, then I crapped myself. Had a hard time sleeping after that one!

I miss these days so much. These were my favorite as a gamer. The sense that so much was on the horizon and coming so quickly. My brother and I each got a system with Mario 64. I also got Cruis'n USA and NBA Hangtime, and he got Pilotwings 64 and Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey. The joy of stepping up from the SNES on that night could not be matched, both of us with our systems hooked up on separate tv's in the same room....I didn't think the n64 was a letdown at all, great system, great times

I always thought it would be so much grander looking when I was a kid... Not only that, but who chauffeurs three adults (or whatever they are) in the backseat of a two door Thunderbird??? I came home from school one day in 1996 and there was the tape for this. I don't remember what month it was, but it was one of the greatest days I had ever had. 1996 was a great year anyway. I'm not sure how my parents got it and I never asked them. Even to this day, I never found out where they got it. We went out for a while afterwards and my brother and I didn't get to watch this until after we got home that night. It was awesome as hell and I just couldn't wait till the N64 was available in the US. We kept this video tape for years but it disappeared some time ago and I wish we still had it. But as soon as N64 came out, we got lucky. We saw an ad that if you buy it at TARGET, it comes with super Mario 64. So I believe that's how we got ours. Then as the months and years went by, we'd buy all kinds of games for it. Those were the days and I sure do miss them.
