Rebuild of a Reef blue metallic 1996 Ford F150

A neighbor gave me (yes gave me) a 1985 Chevy Silverado with a 350 V8, 4WD 4 speed Automatic when I was 14 years old. It wasn't street legal at the time but I wanted to fix it up and make it like new again or at least legal and dependable again. My dad however told me to get it off his property because there was no room for it. I wanted to keep it so bad I paid some rent to park it at a farm down the road. My dad told me I had to sell it because he was never going to help me fix it. He wasn't trying to be mean he was just always too busy... I've always wondered what it would have been like to rebuild a truck with my Dad. I'm grown now and have kids of my own. You boys who are this fortunate, don't ever take it for granted! Don't ever stop feeling grateful for your Dad if he has done something like this for you.

I got a 1996 Ford f150 xlt 4wheel dr 5point8 automatic short bed black with red int, 4" lift kit ,tear drop rims dual exhaust fog lights old type round Ford bed rails padded dash cover bed liner had for 16 years I got a hundred and forty four thousand miles on it not a dent anywhere on the truck .....

Hi.. Im just now seeing this video. The truck looks amazing! Great job! Im searching for the floor carpet for my 1997 F150. My exterior and interior color is the same as yours. I looked on RockAuto and it has several color selections. Im unsure of which color to choose. It has gray, medium gray, and silver. Which color did you choose? and were you pleased with your choice after it was put in? Thanks!

The flooring is vinyl and not carpet. Pretty happy with that choice. As far as color I believe it's dark grey. It's been 6 years now but I believe we got the flooring from Stock interiors. Hope this helps.

This was probably over a period of months. I have a truck that I pretty much restored on about a year so it is possible. You just reallly have to put all the money you make into savings for parts

They're gas hogs you'll only get 15 or 16 mpg max but if you have a 96 with a 300 straight 6 that didn't have anything mechanically wrong with it (paint & surface rust are a given because of the year) they will NEVER let you down. They run like your watch. Little battery little liquid to get shit movin' & she'll NEVER stop as long as there's a charge on that battery🙏🙏🙏

I'V got a paint question someone might know. I'm trying to figure out what is the rarest mass produced ((non special edition's)) paint vs cab on 9th gen f-150's. I know on 10th gen it's light saddle metallic on single cab 1997. I don't actually know but i'm pretty sure on 11th gen it's dark stone metallic single cab 2007. On 9th gen i'v got it down to 2. The color here on single cab 1996, reef blue metallic OR 1993 wild strawberry metallic. In my research i'v seen all kind of evidence that wild strawberry was a f-150 color in 93 but I can't find not 1 single pic or vid online of one to prove it. Any idea's or knowledge?

Not sure, he paid $1500 for the truck. He probably has around 8 or 9 grand in it including the purchase price. That's with doing all the work ourselves.

Man that's a good looking truck man. I have a 1996 Ford F150 with a 5.0L (302) Windsor V8 with 208,000 miles on it and still going strong. The only thing I replaced on my truck was the starter but other than that mostly was just simple maintenance, took out the transmission fluid just to get rid of the shuttering it was making and it hasn't had a problem ever since.

With that 4” lift does it sit leveled for you or is it tilted a bit fwd still. I’m I’m debate ordering a 4” lift I hear ppl say they get 4” lift in the front and 2” in the back so it can sit perfectly leveled but idk I also see others full 4” lift all around and it doesn’t look bad neither

It sits level. We had to remove some factory blocks that were under the rear axle for it to do so. It was sitting way too high in the rear. They were around 2", I'm not sure what the purpose for them was but we ended up removing them. If I had it to do over again I would have bought a kit that included new rear leaf springs. We didn't realize that both of the rear leaf springs on the truck were broken.

1972 F100 awesome..... It’s for sale for $43,000 should make if fun Negotiating..... any thing you would change on it???? It only has 2500 miles on it... “since the rebuild” they say..... anything you would change or thing Needs Work?

The mileage is correct, it looks like the person I sold it to only put 800 miles on it. They changed the fan to electric fans and they changed the drive belt system on the engine since I sold it. Both nice upgrades. The cab does get hot, I would put some heat shield on the exhaust if it hasn't already been done. Also the rear gear is a little too tall, I can't remember exactly but around 60mph I think it was only turning around 1600 rpm. Plus it would be even more fun to drive with a lower gear. It had a 3.73 in it when I sold it.
