Rest easy Phil. You will always be in the hearts of Leeds United supporters everywhere in the world. My son (now 30yrs old) saw you score a hat-trick at Elland Road in the FA Cup against Walsall, and we often talk about that treasured memory.

@@ndodamakayi5220 @cami cain told the truth. Sud African team was the best with no doubt in 1996 CAN, very good team and generation but Nigeria was way way better at that time. Sud African team was lucky that Nigerian team was ban of the competition due to conflict between Nigeria and Sud African. I'm sure that the final would be Sud Africa vs Nigeria and Nigeria would win 3 to 1 something like that. There (Nigeria) were the best in the word at that time with Brasil

@mallokribi33262 жыл бұрын

Nigeria team was destined to win this 96 Afcons but their head of state prevented them from participating because of the rift between him and Mandela.It was like Nigeria just intentionally gave it out to South Africa because if they had participated nothing would have stopped them from winning it.Nigeria players were at their peak that time
@SKPainify5 жыл бұрын
They were the better team but are you saying that Bafana stood no chance? Taking into consideration that we had played friendlies with Argentina and Germany months prior and those teams had failed to beat us.

He is right, Nigeria were the only team that we were scared of at that time. They were really really good. But anything could have happened...
@mallokribi33262 жыл бұрын
So true. Nigeria would have won that cup if they were there. It would be a great game but i would see Nigeria win 3 to 1. Nigeria was one of the 3 best team in the world and Sud African, one of the 20 best team in the world. Just look in CAN 2000, Nigeria and Sud Africa had still some players of 1996, both were very good but a bit past their prime and Nigeria won easily 2-0
