Oh man, those colors scream 90s! I actually kinda like the black with purple and teal stripes. That bike is cleeeeeaaaannn. I'm not a big fan of sport bikes, but those 90s and early 2000s sport bikes are something I love.

Man these bikes are memory lane for me. My buddies had the 600 ninja which was nic named the paint shaker and my other buddy had the nighthawk. Awesome times and we're all still like brothers today.

been there done that very fast bikes for 600cc easy whhelies at about 7000rpm n a slip of the clutch only bad thing is there straight up n down wheelies im glad i grew out of the stage fast lol

My buddy has a 2000 Ducati 996 canary yellow with 3,200 miles on it. He bought it new and never rides it she just sits in the garage. It’s a Millennium year bike and won’t happen for another thousand years.

It came out in -88, but they kept making them for a long time in parallel with its replacement. Kawasaki kind of has a tradition of doing that.

@@philipmccain7545 Considering that Kawasaki only sold the Ninja 600R in the U.S.A. from 1985-1990, it is far more likely that you are correct in it being a 1986 model, rather than a 1996. They did sell a GPX 600R in Europa, and perhaps other markets as late as 1993. The bike looks good, and seems to be in excellent shape, but it is really hard to believe that it is a 1996 model. Without pictures showing the VIN plate, the 1996 claim is simply not credible. EDIT: I was wrong. See below.

@Thomas Aikens My apologies to both you and the original poster. I didn't remember the GPX 600R being sold that late in the U.S.A., and clearly didn't do my research. If I'm reading correctly now, they were sold here (and elsewhere) through the 1997 model year. I was on riding hiatus during those years and did not realize Kawasaki had 3 different 600 sport bikes available for many of those years. Old dogs can learn new tricks, but sometimes we growl while learning.
