Its amazing to see Bob Long and Dave Youngblood (DYE = Dave Youngblood Enterprises) on the same team. Two of the top marker/gear creators both on one powerhouse team. My how the game has changed. lol

I played during those years and was at 1993 and 94 World Cup in Orlando. Was a blast :) The reason most of us didn't wear lower face shields is because a paintball could possibly bounce on ur cheek instead of breaking. At this level, every man you could keep alive longer could mean winning or losing the game.
@VmaxIronman9 жыл бұрын
I am very proud to say that I have played in championship games with both the Ironmen (1986-1992), and also with the Paraplegic Turtles in various events in the 1990's. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the better team win with good planning, taking fast field position, patience, good shooting and most importantly (to me) taking such a humble approach about playing the 'top-rated' team. You're absolutely right about this game, Dale, it literally broke the once great Ironmen Team in half. Both Teams went on to have some success, but neither would be the dominating team that the Ironmen were on the early 1990's. Thanks for sharing. -- Rick Cendejas

PEZ1514 It will take a lot of work to find a format that is playable AND watchable. I think modern cameras will help in the effort. Individual player cams, go pros on quad copters, and massive home TVs to allow for multiple views may do what the cameras/tv's of the 90's couldn't deliver for home viewing. I dunno, I'm hopeful!

In 96 I was 11 years old playing in the woods with my friends with my pmi trracer pump. Fast forward 23 years I’m still playing every weekend and still using my automag in woods ball games. My cs2 is for speedball... but I play woods 10-1 over speed because that’s what I grew up playing and there’s something about lobbing a paintball just right through some twigs and knocking someone out.

I think this is still the infancy of tournament speedball. The late 90's to the early-mid 00's was more the "golden days/years of paintball." 1998 to 2004 was an era of rapid growth in the industry, drastic improvements in pb tech, and huge success in terms of publicity and increased overseas popularity. Last but not least was the culture of paintball itself. Not nearly as much style polarization as today, where woodsballers and tournament-style players never play on the same fields anymore. Hopefully the true golden years of paintball are yet to come.

Hence the invention of drop forwards. This was before 4500psi, but just as many pods were being dumped so people would be using 100+ ci tanks. It made the gun feel long as a yardstick, and you could only move the tank so far forward before it would bump into the frame. Hence drop the tank down then forward. It is goofy to see people still rocking a drop w/ a peanut tank, some dudes just cant let go.
