Can't believe you picked up a SEADOO! This is fun watching you try and figure out the timing and oil system. That part covering the gear on the crankshaft is a retaining ring. I laughed a little when you said carbon rings work to some degree.

@@ShadetreeJetski I have been down and out with a pinched nerve in my neck for the last 4 months. Feeling in my hands and fingers would come and go and the pain kept me up at night. Doctor finally gave me a nerve block just over a month ago and it helped a lot with the numbness, but it didn't take away all of the pain.

The scribe u put on the rotary valve is not nessasary and that mark on the pto isn’t for timing. Set Num 1 piston at tdc then put valve at base of the intake.. it’s in my video and many others as you know.

I’m screaming the whole time take the pto off first it’s a lot harder to get it off the crank later but can be done lemme know if you need any help I know sea doos in and out

I already tried to get it off....uhh couldnt do it so I took it to a machine shop for removal. I may call you later about it as in when I get ready to build the thing. Your business number was on the side of a van in one of your videos. Would also enjoy riding with you someday.

I’m having a hard time splitting the case on my 89 580cc, all the bolts are out and the case is split but can’t pull either side off because the pto wheel is in the way

I had no issues, but that wheel is threaded on with red loctite. You have to use heat and a vise to get it off.

Working on fixing up a stx 1100 and it’s barely cranking and won’t start. Any suggestions. I’ve watched the majority of the stx collection but can’t find the problem on mine

You must pressure test the entire fuel system. More often than not you have a leak. Also the pickup tubes are very very bad about cracking or breaking

Is there a way to remove the pto wheel

Most of them are a flanged end. A pulley puller should do the trick. Freeze off helps too. I wouldn't try heat, there's a rubber main bearing seal right behind it. If you don't have anywhere to secure the motor down after its been pulled from the hull, consider pulling the PTO while it is still in the hull. Remove the jet pump to get access. A couple of 20 inch socket extensions and a big extension handle should get you enough leverage. You may have to cut a couple 2x4's and lay them on the ride plate just to keep the extensions at the right level to pull straight. There should be 8 bolts holding the Impeller attachment to the PTO. One you remove that, you can attach your puller. Loosen the crankshaft bolt so that the PTO has room to slide off the crankshaft. I would advise leaving the bolt in there or finding a way to protect the crankshaft end (and threads) from the puller. Make sure the bolt is in far enough it gets a good bite and the force doesn't damage or strip the threads. But, not in to far so your PTO can't slide off the end of the crankshaft. That bolt is cheaper than a new crankshaft. Have fun!

I did have the motor pulled, I read somewhere to just let a torch sit on it for about 6 hours (or until you think your garage is going to burn down) then get the puller tool and a pipe wrench and budge it off, (I tried it and it worked perfectly, I was just thinking about getting a different hobby😂, until it finally popped off probably 4 weeks later), (with this method it worked first try)
