I have a *94 800 cc and honestly this bike is low maintenance and super reliable. I bought this as a my starter bike about 7 years ago and have done all maintenance other than tire changes on my own using KZbin and the owners manual. It sat for 4 years because of reasons and I set to work on it and replaced the battery, clutch fluid, oil/filter and syphoned out the old gas and after some basic maintenance it started up a lil slow but but once it warmed up the bike runs great!

I baught a pretty neglected high milaged -94 800cc a year ago with more than 95000miles on it . I have changed all fluid you can change on it and the two airfilters and sparkplugs and clutchplates and front brakes and it runs and purrs perfectly and is a fast bike that sounds really great.

I have the 1987 vs750 version and it looks identical, though maybe a plusher seat on the 96 😂 bought mine last year with 8000 miles on the clock and did a UK tour 3 months later. These things just keep going, no matter the weather or road surface and you're still comfortable even after 8+ hours in the saddle. They make great touring bikes and are quite light compared to some other cruisers of the same size so you get plenty of miles from a full tank. I hit just over 180 miles before I had to switch to reserve to get me to the nearest fuel station.

The rear cylinder is running too lean...Suzuki caps the air/fuel mixture screws and sets them very lean. The rear cylinder pipe is blued, and that never happens when the fuel/air mixture is set right. It will eventually burn the exhaust valve if not corrected. I have an '02, and the pipes are still bright chrome...just sayin'

Just bought a 2000, 800. That battery placement must be the worst in all of motorcycling history ! If you're unable to find a battery with the correct terminal orientation , they can be an absolute nightmare trying to get the terminals done up ! Trust me , if you need to get a new battery, it's worth spending the extra $250 to get one that goes straight in. What really amazes me is that you would think after 15 years, the design crew at SUZUKI would have come up with something better ??????????? Other than the battery placement, i love the bike !

I bought an Intuder vs 800 new in 1997. It had a defective crankcase and leaked oil. Suzuki sent out 2 more replacement crankcases that were also defective. Even under warranty the bike was never repaired correctly and Suzuki did nothing about it even after several phone calls. As a result i have never and will never buy anything made by Suzuki.

Looks like that left exhaust pipe would burn the fuck out of your left leg if you were wearing regular pants or shorts. Holy crap what an aweful placement. What do you do, ride with your left leg splayed out? Ditto for the on off switch... I can imagine reaching down and trying to turn off the bike and burning my hand on the left pipe or rear cylinder, because I learned long ago never to use the kill switch. You forget to turn the kill switch back on and you can turn the bike over forever and it will never crank. You can even prank someone if you were so inclined and flip their kill switch and they'll tear their bike apart trying to figure out what's wrong with it and why it won't start any more.
