Hi I just found your channel and wanted to say you videos are *fantastic*. I never ever click the bell but had to here ! I had an 850 wagon myself but can't drive it anymore cause of rust. I really loved the sound and feel of driving it but most of all the nice and "reassuring" feeling of being in the car. I drive bmw now and it's great to drive but is missing that atmosphere inside somehow. Anyway you rock at what you do - Love from Norway

Thank you for these reviews. No other car reviewers on KZbin come close to the level of detail and dedication you put into your channel. I recently purchased a 1997 Volvo 850R that was for sale and your video convinced me to go through with buying it. I'm looking forward to your future uploads.

Hello Everyone! This is one of my favourite cars from Volvo. Also, the first car video that I have uploaded on KZbin four years ago was a 1994 Volvo 850 SE! Those you have not owned or driven a Volvo before, this would good car to get introduced to the brand. Hope you will enjoy the video. Please share your thoughts and experience on this car. I am trying to expand my channel so please subscribe and share it with your mates and other petrol heads. Cheers!

That five cyl is the star of the show. What a sound!! Nice softened around the edges version of the 1980s 760 and 740 body. You might be interested to know that the last year of Aussie Chrysler Valiant production between 1980 -1981 included it's own sips system in the doors, introduced after Mitsubishi Motors acquired the Tonsley Park plant from Chrysler which became the assembly plant for the Magna and 380! Japanese executives came and personally inspected the CM Valiant and Regals and introduced this improvement to the last Valiant.

I really like the car a lot and your style of reviewing cars. Because you test some models we cannot get in the States, it is even more interesting. However, I find your accent beautiful and enjoy listening to you almost as much as watching the videos. Don't take that compliment wrong, it isn't meant to be perverted.

1996 850 GLT was my first car. It someone ripped the turbo out so it constantly had issues. Since I have sold that old car as a derby car which I know is cliche but at least they had the highest safety Rating in the derby. Anyway I just got a s89 turbo an it’s literally the car of my dream. AN I FINALLY GOT ONE 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 #VOLVOforLIFE #turboLIFE

Always thought these looked cool in the bttc, particularly in wagon form! Zoom magazine had the T-5 R in its top 10 bargain performance sedans back in the 2000's. 5cyl engines sound so good, they sound like little V10 Lambos! A Group b Audis on full noise gives you an eargasm lol
@ZCarReviews
@ZCarReviews 6 жыл бұрын
I am a big sucker for that sound as well. It is shame that Volvo are not making 5 cylinder petrol engines anymore. However, good to see AUDI still producing them. Would you believe the 5 Cylinder in AUDI TT RS produces 294 kW and 480 Nm of torque. 0-100 is 3.7 sec! Technology has definitely improved in 25 years!
@HereIsMyOffer
@HereIsMyOffer 6 жыл бұрын
Yep we've come a long way! We now have high boost, high compression factory engines like the TT RS you mentioned. In the 80's you'd have a turbocharged engine with low 8:1 compression which made for lag and poor off boost response, now they have heavily turbo'd engines like the ones in the Ferrari 488 gtb and MClaren 570s/650s etc that are virtually lag free and behave like NA motors. Speaking of great sounding engines, have you ever heard a 993cc 3cyl Daihatsu Charade Gtti/Gtxx turbo engine? They sound awesome! Almost bought one years ago, they're quite rare on our shores and its a shame Daihatsu didn't export them here considering how popular the swift GTi's were... kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXLGYnVuramopdk Tough sound from only 3cyl :)

A lot of misinformation in there - first off the 850 was introduced in 1993 - as well it never came with half those engines or transmissions - please do your homework first - also in 1996 it was called a 850 Turbo - not a T5 FGS!
@ZCarReviews

Hello, Thank you for your comment. I try to gather as much information as I can for these videos. Sorry if any of the information provided was incorrect. However, According to the wiki article these cars were produced from 1991. As for trim levels in Australia - I thought they were referred to CD, GLT, R, S, SE and T-5. Hope this helps.
@marcusjosefsson4998
@marcusjosefsson4998 4 жыл бұрын
The 850-series was introduced in 1991 and sold as 1992 model year. The Turbo was introduced late summer/early fall 1993 as the 1994 model year. The Turbo was named T5 in almost all export markets outside of Sweden, so the information is correct. Trim levels in Sweden was originally the GLT (2.4 liters, 20 valves 170 bhp). It was later followed by the GLE (2.4 liters, 10 valves 144 bhp), the GL (2 liters 126 bhp) and the Turbo/T5 (2.3 liters, 20 valves 225 bhp). The 850 T5-R (240 bhp) was introduced as the 1995 model year to profit from the racing success in BTCC. It was followed by the 1996 850 R (250 bhp).

oh how I cringed when this dude started the car and instantly rev'ed the engine to redline multiple times....Ask any engine builder and they wil tell you that an engine suffers the most wear when first started since the oil has yet to circulate and lubricate the pistons. It is known as a dry start... Nothing like taking an engine with 275k on it and redlining it with dry cyl/pistons. If anyone ever did that to anything that I owned, they'd be waking up from a right hook to the head right after being pulled out of the open drivers side window via their throat
@ZCarReviews
@ZCarReviews 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Buddy, Thank you for leaving such a detailed comment about red-lining an engine on cold start. A couple of points - 1. The car was already driven for more than thirty minutes before recording this. (I usually record the driving bits first and do the exhaust and interior later). So, the engine is well lubricated and warmed up. (Check the coolant temp gauge!) 2. Secondly, all this revving was for recording the exhaust sound. No one in their right mind would start the car and rev like this! I hope that clears things out. Cheers!
