Very great and informative video! I have an 02 FX4 Supercrew that I want to lift eventually, but for now, it fits nicely in the garage lol. It seems intimidating how you had to build the spacers yourself, but they look amazing!
@PeeterPuncher4 жыл бұрын
A little heat with MAP gas torch and an air hammer would get those torsion bars right out....The truck turned good...there nothing like the look of a lifted 10th gen.

Use the torsion key decompression tool on the torsion bars. Worked twice due to my jackwagon self putting the keys in wrong the first go around. 🤦♂️
@theodoremartin61533 жыл бұрын
If you jack the front end up and install cement blocks under the frame so the front tires are hanging and off the ground a bit , you won't need any special tools to remove the locking bolt in the key . But I had too break the key to free the torsion bar hex end because it was frozen solid.

Hi Kris, I'm tearing down a 2000 F150 7700 parts truck to rebuild my 2003 F150 7700 and I'm just about ready to drop the transmission/transfer case. I see that you removed the torsion bar mounting cross member w/the bars, and tensioner intact. If I understand correctly, you didn't need to relieve tension at the tensioner device because you first disconnected the upper A-arm? (This next question is dumb) But why can't I just back off the torsion device tensioning bolt without using the special C-clamp tool?, Thanks. Tim

I don’t t remember where I saw them but I found a set of key adapters that keep the torsion arms up in the factory position instead of dropping them way down with your setup. Have you seen these and what do you think if so?

@@kriswilliams4850is this a rough country 5 inch lift.? If not, what kind of lift you put on..? Aldo, most important and my biggest concern, did you use FACTORY OEM control arms.? Or did you bought AFTER MARKET (PERFORMANCE) CONTROL ARMS for a lifted truck..?
@kriswilliams48502 ай бұрын
@@santiagodavila1426 Yes the lift is from Rough country, and I used OEM upper and lower A-arms, nothing special since no angles changed on the geometry of how the suspension moves.

@@kriswilliams4850 hello. Was up my boy. In my 2003 ford f150 AWD when i put the LIFT kit rought country, was running really bad, i replaced all the suspension components, all bushings all ball joints, upper lower control arms inner outer rod end sway stabilizer bar frame bushings, IDLE ARM PIT MAN ARM.. Was running super good and super smooth. For few months, was doing a lil bit of dead wabble, but now is getting worse. All this less than 24-26 months (two years) have you had the same situation.? Need to replace suspension components ay least every certain time.? I was wondering if there are after market performance control arms, for the lift..

How exactly did you remove the torsion crossmember from the frame. I am working on doing the same thing to my truck and for the life of me I can't get the torsion bar assembly out of the frame.
@kriswilliams48503 жыл бұрын
It's tricky, you have to shove it to one side and try to get one corner out of the frame, then you can slide it out of the other side. Sorry, I should have filmed that.

@@kriswilliams4850 I appreciate the reply bud. I got mine out this afternoon, ended up beating the torsion bars out. They actually came out pretty easy

Man I hope you've improved on your jack stand techniques. Because in the beginning you are under that truck with what looks like 2 jack stands with a wooden 4x4 block in between the jack stand and truck on one side, and it's barely on the frame it appears. On the other side it's a 2x4 block that's 2 long and it's barely in-between the stand and frame like edge of the 2x4. Even if they were properly aligned you don't use blocks between the 2. Now not recommended but I sometimes do this, you can put the wood(s) under the jack and on stable ground. Accurately: jack stands of proper height and size. Leave working properly jack closest to you and where you are working. 1,2,3, or 4 of the vehicles rim(tire) laying flat near your position or the closest to ground part of the vehicle that isn't suspension related. Chock wheels left on the vehicle. Etc etc ... great video though just wanna bring awareness like someone did me before it was 2 late. Stay safe
@Jakeself85 ай бұрын
I see 2 other Jack stands later but still unsafe 1 stand goes they all go.
