1997 BMW Z3 Roadster 1.9L - Under-Rated and Under Priced! Test Drive

This is a beautifully maintained example of an early 4 Cylinder Z3 in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition.
WAY cooler than a Miata, lower maintenance costs than a Porsche Boxster... could the BMW Z3 be the perfect young classic roadster?
Just 138 horsepower, but a really, really fun car to drive, especially when you keep the revs up over 4,000 RPMs.

So much fun for not a lot of money and you can still work on these cars yourself. Great value and 'cooler' than a Miata as far as I'm concerned.

I have a friend who owned one of these about 20 years ago. I drove it and thought it was ok and fun to drive with the stick. But my buddy was turning on to a main road from a secondary one time after a rain and spun out! Said he did not floor it, but wound up facing traffic and got home ok. Sold it after that! I recall it was very smooth, though! I hear they got better with the Six,

I have an M Roadster which is better than the Z3 in every way in terms of performance, but I have to admire the beauty of the original 1.9 Z3, nice and simple M44
