I'm in love with your Mini. The air horn, the way she sings as she drives off from the drop down gears in the sump and the A+ engine, the exhaust sound. This is an amazing car.

First car was an 850, second 1000, third Clubman 1275GT. Now have a Lotus Exige as a fun car but 30 years ago it was the Mini that cemented my love of driving.

Great car. What size tires are you running on that. I was wondering if the hit anywhere inside the wheel wells.

Interesting to see it without the stripes on side and bonnet - mine is same year same color with the original decals which I prefer but I can see why you like this look.

Hi use Meguiars Ultimate Compound or similar on the spray painted fenders should be able to bring out the glass look instead of the orange peel then follow up with polishing compound

Hi Adam, love the video. I'm 38 now, but in 2000 when I was 18 I had use of a W reg mini cooper - same colour and spec as yours! So keen to find another one. I've looked at the imported Japanese cars as the bodywork on these cars seem to be much better but really want a UK car. Also did you purposefully pick a non sport-pack car? I prefer the smaller wheels and arches myself. Glad to see you're enjoying your mini - takes me back to 2000!! All the best, Richard
@addspower52923 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the message, I did look for a non-sportspack car, like you I wanted something which had the more classic style with modern conveniences like an immobiliser. I read they drive a little better too on the 12" wheels as well. Japanese cars do tend to be better for bodywork, however I see a lot of them have air con fitted, which for me is too much weight and complexity for a classic mini.

Downsides of the MPI: - Crap off the line, that 2.7 diff kills acceleration - Fuel injection bogs, especially when you blip the throttle it'll nearly stall - Sportspack wheels make the steering hideous at manouvering speeds My advice after owning a 1989 and a 1999 *tuned* MPi Mini is buy an older, pre-MPi mini with either a 998 or 1275 engine, both are better to drive than the MPi cars. They had great interiors but they were worse to drive by a long shot.
@JohnBaxendale3 жыл бұрын
Oh "barely any steering input" means it tramlines like a mofo, the 13inch wheels on the MPI are abysmal for tramlining, they follow every ridge in the road. 10 or 12 inch wheels with less width work much better on the Mini, the sportspack wheels are for looks only.
@JohnBaxendale3 жыл бұрын
Also, that airbag on the steering wheel means you can't lower the wheel to make it more comfortable as it'll fail the MOT. erk. Get an earlier non-airbag car so you can lower the wheel, it'll make it a thousand times more comfortable if you're not a dwarf :)

I really want one of those, too bad they're isn't a lot of them in Canada and RHD cars are oppressively hard to insure here. Apparently they are 40% more likely to get into an accident but I'm sure it's not the owners fault, its the other road users staring at the the car and seeing the driver on the other side
@stitchjones71343 жыл бұрын
Overtaking is the issue I believe. LHD cars have the same issue in Oz.
