Cycle World raced one of these in the ¼ mile against a VF500F Interceptor back in the day, to make it fair they put a street tire on the back of it and drastically changed the sprockets, the CR won hands down even after they switched riders after the first 2 of 4 passes, but the results came out the same on the last two. A dirt bike beating a street bike in the quarter mile was an absolute sensation at the time.

1972 mode I am. My son, a 2003 model had a ride of a lifetime. He graduates this week and we spent weekend in the Jemez mountains. Ryan riding a1983 IT490 and me on my 86 CR500. Truck lost drivers wheel bearings on the way home and had to be towed. Still a smile on our faces.

Boy I sure miss my 98 CR500. Bought it from Anderson Honda in Bloomfield hills Michigan. That's a bike I should have kept. I've been roosted by another CR500 with a chest protector and it hurt like hell. I threw a rock one time and hit my buddy's brake lever and snapped it in half on a CR that he was following me with.

I said before all about my 92 CR 500 all the work that I had done to the bike but cases never split!! Sat for 17 years started 2nd kick I was trying for the first!!! The bike was only riden 10 Times sense new Iv road many many Big bore bikes this one was the fastest by far !! and I had a 97 Honda CR500 really smooth but my 92:would just walk an way from It!!! Now in December I bought a Honda 2022 CRF 450 RL all ready Piped it u have to refinice your house for that !!! waiting for my $900 ECU !! The Supper Brain !! supper cross tires, below handelbar mirrors , high direct fender mounted LIC, air box, gold Oring chain , 14 tooth counter sprocket , next a thermostat delete kit there are so many things you want to do to these bikes ! That don't come factory with these beast ! Totally surprised these 4 Stroke s have this much HP and bottem end instancely ! Could not believe a 4 Stroke could do that. !!! But it is fuel injected ! LOL OH it is really stiff off road ! A friend specialize in suspension and porting Going to have him a adjust compression and Rebound ! He said To get 5 hours on it first!!!

I prob wouldn't attempt a 500 start myself personally in them lol. I basically tore in half the stitched leather top to bottom on a Timberland work boot also a chunk of the midsole + purpling my whole foot on Cr250 when i was a kid. It was amazing how the boot blew apart lol. The force was tremendous!

When i rode the 92 kx 500 thats all i heard from the other racers..was the roost it didnt bother me i always get a holeshot so they werent liking me much...the only one to ever roost me was earl may at gator back in the 25plus class...it stunned the whole bike an me stop us for a hundredth of a second every one went out wide an i slid up an stole 2nd just in time as earl clicked in 3 rd i watched it all the way from the ground right till i put the top of my head in the way an little rocks exploded ever where....i was on my 96 cr 250 earl on a kawi...250kx

There's never been a faster moto bike built. I knew a local guy who pulled hole shots in 4th gear, and was ALWAYS to the first turn before everybody else. He ran the whole race in 3rd and 4th. I asked him why this bike has a 1st and 2nd gear, and he said "It Does?"

Something has to be adj different. Need notes on timing, jetting, gearing. Maybe cdi box is a fluke, maybe cast piston, tighter skirt clearance, or stock displacement with rough cast intake finish helps keep fuel atomized off all the little bumps, where the smooth port jobs keeps the fuel wicked to the walls a little more? Might just be the cooler air compared to the last couple weeks? Wonder if ice can contraption could cool intake air on outside of airbox to carb boot, dry ice compartment, a modified intake boot, (aluminum so no cracking) that you chuck some crushed dry ice in before gate drops.
