1997 Polaris 500 reverse limiter bypass.

My Polaris 500 has troubles with the reverse rev limiter switch located inside of the gear shifter (sometimes it limits speed in forward gear) instead of replacing the switch I just disabled the rev limiter completely by removing the black wire shown in the video. I now get full power in reverse & 4x4 without pressing the reverse override button which is good when you are plowing or stuck and trying to push the ATV. This may work for other models as well but dont blame me if anything goes wrong.

Bro thank you so much! Been dealing with this 4 wheeler and hadnt had any lunch for 2 momths! New carb filer sparkplug. Cdi box belt wiring and nothing and you just saved me by unplugging a wire.

mine does same in rev 4x4. but great in forward cant even back out of mud hole. thanks il check that switch

thank you! I was having all sorts of issues with engine dying when put in reverse, or turning AWD off. This fixed the problems!!

Will the 4x4 work or still work my scrambler is doing this in H and R in 4x4 but the front wheels aren’t pulling

Will this work on a 2000 scrambler 500? I would also like to turn that reverse override button into the start button because I hate having to push up on the start button and wiggly and hurting my thumb to start it

my 1995 425 magnum 4 stroke is doing that but the ignition limiter is mounted in a different place and wire locations are different also so i am having trouble trying to disable

You took the right off and said left. The left is correct.

I have a 1998 polaris sportsman 500 4x4 that doesn't want to go in to 4 wheel drive unless I push the shifter lever forward and hold it. Is there any way to bypass that switch so it stays in awd all the time as I just use it for plowing snow.

hello i bought 1998 polaris scrambler 500 the other day and tested it it sputtered when at idle but went really well when i got on it i knew i would be needing some work so i got it home ride up down street few times parked it didnt touch it again the next day i start it and wasnt thinking cuz not even one min after starting i tried to put in reverse and it stalled but i was not informed when i bought to push the yellow button and now when i turn my key on my green light not coming on and it wont start can some one please tell me why ?

I've got a 1996 Polaris 500 Sportsman. It "sputters" in REV and FORWARD HIGH but not in Forward LOW. I wonder if disconnecting that wire will correct my problem also? I've been trying to find one of these rev limiters new. And they are no longer available ANYWHERE.

Does the 4x4 work in reverse without pushing the button after disconnecting this wire?

Yes, full power in reverse with the wire disconnected no need to press button anymore

adam13681 so far every video I've seen that does this claims at the four wheel drive does not engage in Reverse afterwards was that so in your case I have a Polaris Scrambler 500 and we're hoping to take it out tomorrow but will for sure need 4 wheel drive in reverse
