I was 12 years old at the time and my late grandfather took me to this game. I'm so glad to be able to see this legendary Bronco's team in person. Neither of us thought our Bills had a chance but they made it close. The one thing the broadcast does not show for whatever reason was the snow coming down in OT. The only "snow game" I've been to in my life. So bizarre the cameras don't pick it up.

This was Chris Speilman's last game of his career. They found out after the game that he played with a neck issue and was put on IR. He sat out the 98 season to care for his wife who had breast cancer. In 99 he was traded to Cleveland but reinjured his neck in the preseason and was forced to retire. I am surprised that he's never been considered for the Hall of Fame.

Chris Spielman was one of my favorite players growing up. I feel that his career is underrated. He was a productive player until the injury. If you look at his stats he should have more trips to the Pro Bowl. He was a 4x Pro Bowler. If he played on a Super Bowl team his career would be viewed differently. The Lions would get into the playoffs and lose. He was with the Bills when the Bills were not the same team from the early 90's.

What I remember most about this game is waking up that Sunday morning and my Dad telling me their was a huge snow storm in Denver over night and all the roads were closed and they had trouble getting people to the team buses the had asked people with 4 wheel drives and snow mobiles to pick up the players they got to Buffalo really late

DREDD nought I remember the images of Broncos players wearing ski-goggles, other outdoor gear and running through 20” of snow in their front yards just to hop on the snowmobiles. Man! Until reading your comment I haven’t thought of that memory since I was young. Thanks!

hey wasn’t this the game that the Broncos almost had to forfeit because the Denver metro was so snowed in that players couldn’t get to the airport? i remember seeing on the news as a kid ppl picking up players on snowmobiles. crazy. you know it’s a bad snowstorm when Denver gets shutdown.

Even though the game wound up an 'L' for Buffalo, I still consider this a classic game from that era of Bills football. The comeback, the long FG by Chrisite...and the bonehead call in OT, of course. Fun game to watch. GREAT upload!!! Keep 'em coming, JP!

This was supposed to be the playoff matchup in the 96-97 playoffs but,Jacksonville ruined it for everyone. It would've been Jim Kelly,Andre Reed,Bruce Smith and the rest of the early 90's trying for one last chance at a Super Bowl victory against John Elway,who was also looking to get back to and win the Super Bowl along with running back Terrell Davis and a tough defense. Considering how this regular season game was exciting,think how amazing the playoff game would've been! The Jaguars messed it up for you,me, commentators Dick Enberg, Paul McGuire and Phil Simms!
@RichV204 жыл бұрын
Bills veteran skill should of got them past Jaguars. The Bills were too old and anemic on offense to go beyond the Wild Card or beat the Broncos on the road in 1996.
@walterlv016 жыл бұрын
This game was kind of the final hurrah of the Bills' Super Bowl teams, they still had a lot of the main players from those 4 Super Bowls and still showed the fight that they were famous for against that season's Super Bowl champs. They were 4-3 at this time and in contention, but sunk fast after this loss and wound up 6-10 and Levy retired.
@chrisuncleahmad7896 жыл бұрын
I actually think their final hurrah was the game that ended up being Levy's final win a month later vs. the Jets.
@jeremythompson91225 жыл бұрын
Their last hurrah really was the Wild Card loss to Jacksonville in 96...Jim Kelly's final game. They had no chance in 97 with Todd Collins under Center. I'm surprised Marv Levy didn't retire after the 96 season along with Jim Kelly

I worked up the courage to run down and stand next to him to cheer, forgetting I had the opponents jersey on.. he asked me if i was from denver and I was so starstruck I lied and said yes and ran back to my seat

A few years later (during the Matt Millen era), the Lions won the overtime coin toss in a game against the Bears, and they chose to take the wind rather than the ball. However, the Lions never got the ball in OT as Chicago drove down the field and kicked the winning FG. Having seen this Broncos-Bills game, I knew a team like could win with this strategy, However, to be successful, it would help a lot if the team had more in common with the 97 Broncos than the 02 Lions.
