Did you notice any change in mpg? any loss in power? im really confused behind this back pressure myth. For the record I have a 98 f150 4.6 with cats that rattle a obnoxious noise while idling, and 9/10 its the cats that have turned into a pile of nails.

When i had it i deleted the rear cats. Gain a lil bit of power. More noticable on the highway. Mpg was the same.

Now i have this grand prix complexly straight piped. No res no cats no muffs. I have the same results. A little power gain more noticable on highway. Mpg still the same.

my 97 4.2 sound just like this. it has no cats and is cut off right before the rear wheel. mine has just a bit more back pressure

how did you remove the cats? do you still have an 02 sensor or how did you bypass it?

Did your CEL stay on after the cats were removed? I have a 98 with the 5.4 in it, all of my cats are shot. It runs like crap. I want to remove the cats, but I don't want it to eat more gas or cause the CEL to turn on.

Put a spark plug antifouler where the o2 goes and install the o2 into the antifouler. The CEL shouldnt come on. The truck will not eat up more gas because the pcm looks at upstream (before the cat) o2 sensors for fuel trims

Can the cats being clogged cause an intermittent skip, bad o2 readings, and a bad mass airflow reading?

mine blew the combs out of mine and plugged mine so I'm doing a rear cat delete

Xboxuseacode21 only issue I had was with the o2 sensors I just plugged them and didn't worry about the check engine light bein on

Ok i know this is an old thread but i have a 99 f150 4.6 5 Speed and im thinking of gutting the cats on mine...! i have 3 instead of 4 so my question is how do i plug the O2 sensors and with what.?

Yeah you must live way out in the country because in the city limits A vehicle with no catalytic converter‘s will not pass emissions

Any noticeable power decrease? Also I have 4 cats, the back two are right behind the front two, if I cut the back two off and wanted to add pipe from there, I'd be welding it? Or should I just cut all 4 cats off

i cut the back 2 off and straight piped it but don’t like the clap when i get on it so looking to put muffler to make it have the nice smooth rumble

How did you pass emissions with no cats? I did the same thing to my 98 150 and I can't pass emissions now.

If I just cut the cats out is it going to send a code? I want better gas mileage and a mean sound, but if it ruins my mileage it would be nice to know first

Graham Seminari I lost a little mileage but really it wasn’t enough to tell. It did turn on the check light for the o2 sensor. But didn’t affect anything else

I got the same truck got the same question runs fine with no MAF sensor wondering what it will do
