I’m 81 years old, now living in Western Australia. In the mid-60’s and through the early 70’s I was Chief Steward in Croke Park, responsible for getting the teams out of the Dressing Rooms on time at the start of the match and after half-time, and like himself all unpaid. It was a pleasure to meet all the great players like himself ,Mick O’ Dwyer, Mick O’Connell etc.

I should have mentioned that I also welcomed Ron Barrassi onto the pitch when he brought the first Australian Rules team over to Ireland to play the first mixed rules game and so introduced the Irish footballers to the possibilities of a move to Oz.

Pat Spillane was one of the greatest of all times,possibly the greatest forward ever seen and will never be bettered 8 All Ireland medals. He was a great player an honest analyst.But there's days I'd love be there in the studio to shut him up.Best of luck in your retirement and I hope to see you soon..beware I might tare a few strips off you Spillane.
