my first car was a 205 CTI 1.9 in a great shape and low mileage, sold it for 2000 euros to get money for studying. best one i've ever driven. yours looks awesome, the best model any car manufacturer ever made, the drivability is such a gem

@@rollingtroll its in storage right now because it was owned by my grandma and grandpa, i bought it last week for €870 it's done 169.000 kilometers, im alsmost done with the driving lessons so can't drive it right now. But in the future you will definitely see it on our Dutch roads and i can tell you more than how it drives and feels, but it's officially my first car.

A year before this car was delivered new, I was driving a white 1985 Peugeot 205 GLD (1.8 litre diesel), which was leaking oil so much the rear hatch was turning grey, had a broken odometer which kept on rolling over (sometimes "driving" thousands of km a day) and had several expensive problems, even developed a shortcut causing an electric fire. But it started when it was -18C outside, was very economical on fuel, had adequate power and it had a very comfortable ride.

Typically French. They are not unreliable, just not very solidly made. They'll get you home, just expect to have to superglue stuff together every now and then ;).

14:04, i did 170-180 together with my girlfriend on the autobahn in my old 205 '91 1.1 accent. After that the dynamo died lol. But it actually felt pretty safe! But the ideal speed with a 205 indeed is about 110 for cruising. I'm actually thinking about purchasing a 205 in the future and eventually making it a gti BUT with a tu5jp4 engine in it. Should be an amazing combination given that this car is so light. Edit: My old 205 1.1 actually also did 0 to 100 in about 10 seconds, that thing was really fast.

I agree, my 1.1 Winner 205 is also accelerating very good, nobody believe it though...

We had a 205 Generation 1.4 for many years, too bad it’s gone... I’ve done 180 on the autobahn, and although it’s stable, the steering is too direct for such speeds. But who cares, those are test drive speeds, not daily use. At around 130 it’s relaxed cruising, with indeed enough power to accelerate or maintain speed up hill. Agreed, it’s a high revs thing, but I discovered that these engines are very sensitive to short distance driving. Go on holiday, do some serious long distance driving (e.g. drive to Spain, 1500km), and you’ll hardly notice the engine even at highway speeds, after a few days (not because it was deafening!). It gets even seriously faster then (more torque at low revs), so it’s definitely cleaning up something. Which is all gone after a few weeks home with shorter trips. The occasional 100-200km drive solves the worst, but it doesn’t come close to a serious long trip. Lovely cars! I think to say they don’t have crumple zones is not correct, they certainly do have a reinforced passenger compartment, but it’s not as strong as you’d like them...

Oh man I know exactly what are talking about these cars are so much fun to drive they make you feel so connected to the road my father is the proud owner of a 305s from 1983 and that thing is unstoppable he drive it pretty much every day since he got it and it just keeps going but to be honest I preferred Renault cars speciality the Renault 25 Baccara that thing got some power under the hood

I'd love a 305! They are getting properly rare and expensive these days though. Happy to have a 205 :). The 21/25 were a bit of a pain in the ass, reliability wise, but man were they a joy to drive. Through the years I drove a lot of Renaults. From the 19 to the 5 to the 4 to the Twingo to the Fuego and I loved them all. Not sure what my next car is going to be. My other car is a Volvo 440, which has Renault 9 underpinnings.

Check hem goed op roest. Achterbak en wielkassen voor, en als je koelvloeistoftankje bruin is, lekker laten staan. Koppakkingen willen wel falen. Verder is het een relatief goedkoop te onderhouden autootje :). Geen E10 erin gooien!!!

Mijn eerste auto in 2003 was een 205, 1.1. Ook al niet traag! In 2012 had ik een andere Génération, een groene, en nu dan weer eentje. Mogelijk heb ik dat genoemd in de video. Ik blijf erbij terug komen, het zijn fantastisch rijdende auto's. Mijn favoriete kleine hatchback. Ik denk dat ik in 't middensegment voor de BX ga en in het grote segment voor de Saab 9000. Allemaal een beetje buitenbeentejs!

Dag Rob, je timed dit fan-tastisch. Ik vind dat ik te weinig met de 205 rijd en heb hem zojuist bij m'n ouders op de oprit gezet want daar is lekker veel ruimte om hem goed te wassen en wat kleine dingetjes te repareren (deuren die moeilijk sluiten bij koud weer bijvoorbeeld). Daarna gaat hij in de verkoop. Ik hoef niet de hoofdprijs maar een reëel bod gezien de staat wordt wel verwacht. Hij heeft intussen nieuwe achterremmerij en er was wat roest onder de motorkap waar een krik had liggen rammelen, daar zit een keurig plaatje in. Verder is hij nog precies zoals in de video, fantastisch dus! APK is sinds December ververst zonder op- of aanmerkingen. Je mag me een mailtje sturen op [e-mail], dan kletsen we daar verder! Afleveren in 't hele land is geen probleem overigens, ik rijd er graag in!

Geweldig filmpje, leuk om te zien hoeveel je weet en geniet van je auto. Heb zelf ook een 3-deurs versie van deze donkerblauwe 205 Generation gehad (weggedaan met 310.xxx km ervaring). Koester hem en maak hem af, dan heb je er nog lang pret van!

Valt er een beetje mee te rijden zonder stuurbekrachtiging? Zit te twijfelen dezelfde te kopen

@@user-ui5jb9je7q jahoor, weegt toch niks :). Je wil echt geen stuurbekrachtiging bij kleine lichte auto’s. Dan worden het vage hokken (zoals elke moderne kleine Japanner, helaas…)
