I've got an 850R, front wheel drive, 250bhp, manual transmission. And yes, it does struggle to put the power down! Full throttle acceleration results in plenty of wheelspin. I've never driven an AWD one but I read about all the expensive issues with the AWD system and decided to stick with FWD.

I have the S60 t5 2.4, and it is a lot on the front wheels, I agree, it eats front tyres, even without spin, every 37 000 km, I need a set, and every 74 000 (kms) all 4.

I've got an R-reg V70 SE in the same colour, sadly only the 2.5 20v non-turbo but it's one of the best car's I've owned and a hoot to drive. Good video and nice to see a period video of these lovely cars.

V70 is very easy to park, because of the big windows and great mirrors. And i think old V70s had a extra feature that you could get, parking assistance sensors.

Just got one needed some work to make it go and will begin to enjoy it soon. I don't like the 4 speed auto with first not really suiting the lack of bottom end grunt. My 5 speed non turbo V70 auto would eat it to 40kmh at the traffic lights. This is my first performance car and great for a grandpa like me that likes the odd garage sale.

This 'compensation system' .. does that mean that you can tune it to think its fully loaded at all times for even more speed?
@ramawson10 жыл бұрын
no they worded it wrong. it has compensated rear shocks so when you load up the car with luggage, people and general things, the ride height will stay the same as it raises itself back up to prevent rubbing

Presenter: There's an incredible amount of power lurking underneath that bonnet, far too much for a two wheel drive system to be able to handle properly. 2017 Honda Civic Type R: I think not.

Or, ford; litterally using the Volvo 2.5 R engine + bigger turbo and putting it in a fwd focus
@volvoaddiction76845 жыл бұрын
We are now converting an Awd R into fwd because of the poor awd system, it will get 400bhp, those tyres aren’t going to like that:-)

hahaha sure, as if the Haldex was ever even close to be that good. It needs a fair amount of wheelspin to engage the AWD as there is a Hydraulic clutch involved.

dayway05 the hate is illogical. wagons are very practical. they only people who don't like them are immature 'cool kids' too afraid of being called old fashioned by their fellow immature buddies. Once someone put on some more years of age and can't care less about being 'cool', wagons start making a lot more sense.

yeah the surprise in some of their face after getting beat by a wagon is priceless. that's why I love the unassuming S4 avant so much. especially with chip tune they pretty much match RS versions.

Here in my state they only recently changed the restrictions on cars, so I was lucky enough to be allowed to drive the T5 we have, which has been slightly modified with a 3" exhaust. The other cool kiddies buying their souped up cars with hardly power at all due to these restrictions we have on "real" cars, and then there's me

+Josh Reitz for a 2 wheel drive system was the words she used, and unless you are as much as a muppet you seem like, you will know the V70 comes as fwd....
@Stale_Mahoney8 жыл бұрын
Josh Reitz if the car had been rwd there would not be a problem with power delivery, but i have driven a 850R for some period of time and 250hp does not get transfer well to the roade with only the fwd system... as you will spin the wheels in 3d gear at a hard pull, this is what she meant with to much power for a 2 wheel drive system, remember volvo is not a car maker that makes useless wehicles but sensible ones.
@secularnevrosis8 жыл бұрын
Or as she said. 2:16 "...Far too much power for a 2-wheel system to handle properly.."That meaning FWD as that is the only other option besides AWD.So.. yes! Ståle understands perfectly well. Just a tip..If you "step in it" just stand still..don't start dancing around.
@Stale_Mahoney8 жыл бұрын
secularnevrosis well in your original comment it seemed like you thought they used 4wd instead of rwd as you spoke of it, thats why i felt i needed to "step in it" to get you out of it, but if you do know the other option was fwd then it make me ask, why the first comment at all?
@secularnevrosis8 жыл бұрын
ståle starheim Sorry Ståle. I intended to comment on Josh (The muppet?) lack of knowledge that the V70 has FWD or AWD. And his "crazy" reply when you pointed that out to him...

240 hp..come on lady lol thats not much. Cool car tho
10 жыл бұрын
Probably could get this increased by chipping. I think 240 is enough for this type of car otherwise the fuel bill on a higher HP car would be too high. My Audi is at 168HP and is very fast (TDI) don't need more as British roads are too uneven and badly maintained for high speed driving. This car is not meant to be a Porsche or a BMW M5. Its a family car and most people wont be driving like nutters in it.
