Thank you so much for all these videos on the RL, they’ve been a huge help to me for someone that owns a 99 and likes to save money on labor for my car. I’m installing a double din radio in a few days and I replaced my dash lights a few days ago, your stereo and dashboard removal videos have been on repeat for the process lol

Love the vids bruh. Me and pops have about 7 rls between us. (Not all running ofc) really helpful and dope to bounce ideas around. This one we bought most recently had everything possible wrong with the cooling system and after changing everything blew the head gasket. Lol project time

Hey can you please tell me what a “maintenance required” light on the dash means? Thank you.
@carapprenticeАй бұрын
It's simply a vehicle maintenance reminder. The owner's manual has more details: owners.acura.com/vehicle-information

Good content quick question though I have a 2002 rl and I changed the temp switch fan still doesn't kick on after digging around im thinking its the cooling fan temp switch any idea about this thanks

Is the coolant temp running high? Did you receive a P0118 or a different code? Any other symptoms you're experiencing?

@@carapprentice p1486 code

@eightyd2098 I stored the factory service manual here: www.mediafire.com/file/uvbmryok1ax4vbs/Acura_RL_-_Factory_Service_Manual_%25281996-2004%2529.zip/file There's a troubleshooting flowchart for P1486 on page 11-110 in the Fuel and Emissions section. It appears that low coolant level, the radiator fan switch circuit, or the thermostat are likely causes.
@jaime13huerta2 жыл бұрын
What causes a p0128 temperature gauge takes a bit to rise and also it reaches the h and fluctuates replaced the temp sender will the radiator sensors cause this also switched the thermostat
@carapprentice2 жыл бұрын
I couldn't find the P0128 code in the service manual, and I've never personally seen it. As you may have researched, if you are indeed getting a P0128, here are some probable causes; it appears that you may have eliminated a couple, unless the replacement parts were bad, also. From KBB: www.kbb.com/obd-ii/p0128/ - A bad coolant temperature sensor - The cooling fan is stuck on - A bad intake air temperature sensor - A thermostat that’s malfunctioning or stuck open (electronically controlled or traditional) - A P0128 can also be the result of using your car in a cold climate during the winter and being unable to get to normal operating temperature. Taking several small trips could reset it.

Hi. I like your videos. I have a 2001 Acura 3.5 RL. I like the body style and want to keep the car going. Have you done the timing belt/water pump service on yours? If you could post a video it would be great. I can't find any videos of the 1996 - 2004 body style on KZbin. Thanks again.

Timing belt and water pump are on my list, but I may not be able to get to them until next summer. Thanks for checking out the videos!

Did you put LEDs in the cluster if so got a link...
@carapprentice2 жыл бұрын
I responded to your other post - just replying here for other visitors. The LEDs came installed in the cluster when I bought it. I have seen some Legend owners install bulbs from superbrightleds.com, but I've never used them.

Will this exact sensor work for my 91 Acura legend? It's taking longer to start.
@carapprentice2 жыл бұрын
Yes, they are the same - mentioned in the video that lots of Honda cars use this sensor. I would suggest testing first.

Actually question,have you ever ran in to an immobilizer issue? Heard it might be dealer only but ofc you know what they want just to check
@carapprentice2 жыл бұрын
I've seen other RL owners have immobilizer issues, but I've never had to diagnose one myself. If you haven't already, you may want to check out the 96-04 Acura RL Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/1427987647415950 Also, I've stored the factory service manual here if you need it: www.mediafire.com/file/uvbmryok1ax4vbs/Acura_RL_-_Factory_Service_Manual_%25281996-2004%2529.zip/file

It's possible, but you'll need to test to properly diagnose the issue. Here's a link to page 11-78 in the Fuel and Emissions section of the service manual: www.mediafire.com/file/tllbosu7w0yicca/RL9604S11078A+-+P0117.pdf/file Here's a link to the full service manual: www.mediafire.com/file/uvbmryok1ax4vbs/Acura_RL_-_Factory_Service_Manual_%25281996-2004%2529.zip/file

@@carapprentice alright forsure I picked up this very clean Rl but it had this code I changed the sensor but not the plug bc there was no residue of coolant or moist around the wires whatsoever
@carapprentice Жыл бұрын
@anykineproductions9327 I would start by checking for 5V at the sensor's connector while tugging lightly on the wires to see if the voltages drops out.

Here's a link to the service manual that may help with diagnosing the issue; I don't have any experience with that code. See page 14-74 in the Transaxle section: www.mediafire.com/file/uvbmryok1ax4vbs/Acura_RL_-_Factory_Service_Manual_%25281996-2004%2529.zip/file
