After my dad and I went to the 1998 Rose Bowl (one of the highlights of my life) we decided to go to this game too. Orlando is a great destination for a bowl game after all when you're a 14 year old kid. The one thing I'll never forget (beside the giant snowstorm in Michigan that most stranded us in Florida for a few more days!) was way the Arkansas fan went totally insane when the Arkansas team bus pulled up. It was nothing like I had ever seen before at a game and I had been to many as I grew up in Ann Arbor and my dad had a pair of season tickets and at that time we had also gone to away games at 6 other big ten schools; MSU, OSU, Indiana, Purdue, and Northwestern and I think Iowa, though that may had been a year or two later. We had also gone to South Bend to see Michigan and Notre Dame. But these Razorback fans did their pig sooie call drunken and nonstop for HOURS! And they were just off the chain in general. However all the ones we tailgated with were all super nice and I remember how exciting they were to just be playing Michigan on January 1 when those two things still meant something. (God I hate how the playoff has destroyed the post season!) I'll will ever forget that team bus pulling up and the banshee howls that followed. Great memories! I hope to see Michigan play Arkansas again!

I miss Michigan not getting blown out six times per season.

Hope you stuck with them, Bri. It took a while -- much longer than I wanted or expected -- but hey, better late than never.

Not exactly. In 98, Wisconsin went to the RB only because Michigan and OSU had been there more recently. It was a stupid rule that was eventually changed. Nobody was happy that Wisconsin was going to Pasadena and they were never considered a national championship threat because of their awful schedule. They didn't have to play OSU. In 99, Wisconsin won the conference outright. If we hadn't blown that 20 point lead against Illinois, we would have gone to the RB having beaten UW head to head.

especially since Michigan beat them. But then again Wisconsin was higher ranked both seasons and I guess the Big Ten felt they had a better chance at possibly winning a national championship seeing how they were 10-1 going into the Rose Bowl.
