1999 F350 powerstroke 7.3l loss of power simple fix

Easy simple fixing for loosing power when pulling trailers or going on up hill or low grade slopes.. The truck just decelerates .

Let it be a learning experience!!.. When you get a used vehicle always do the required maintenance. Fluids, filters and a oil change. regardless of what the the previous owner tells you.

This is a diesel. Let alone a 7.3 stepping on the throttle while trying to start isn't going to do much for you. Cycle you glow plugs several times if you are having trouble starting it. Turn the key on engine off and wait for the glow plug light to go off. Thurn the key off and repeat this process several times before trying to start it. If you are still having trouble starting it you need new injectors.

You do need injectors, also when cranking the truck when cold, turn your key in on position for a minute and a half then crank the truck

There’s more wrong than just an air filter, you can hear a skip upon cranking. Injector or compression skip.

You need new injectors , they shouldn't be clacking that loud. I'd start saving some money for them. The glow plugs aren't as important but if you change injectors change the glow plugs too they're cheap anyways . If your air filter is clogged your oil is probably bad too. I'd put a few bottles of diesel kleen through your motor it lubes and cleans your injectors .

Bit of marvel mystery oil in the fuel and oil will fix that. Saved me from getting new injectors..

Great video, I'm experiencing lost of power on similar to this problem, but all the time while it's running. The Cluster says that I have water in the fuel, but I will try the air filter solution also. Also,I've been corrected a many times when I referred to diesel as gas. Now, it's your turn to get it correc,Ali. Gas and Diesels are two different animals, but good video.

Some powerstrokes the bottom of the fuel filter housing has like a lever if turn it water that is caught will flow out. That is how my 97 was built. It used to cut off so i drained the fuel bowl.

the super duty 7.3 have fuel filters in the fuel tank they are inside the fuel pickup/sending unit assembly. check out powerstroke help video called.... LOSS OF POWER 7 3L POWERSTROKE

The solenoids need to be shimmed, replace Glow Plugs with Motorcraft, replace fuel filter and install a White Rodgers 200 amp GPR to get more juice to the GPs than the stock 90 amp GPR

Changing out glo plugs would make that motor jump to life. Did that with my 97 . Changed relay and red positive battery harness also. Night and day difference. Did glo plugs myself and saved 700.00 dollars.

What if one glow plugs is t brand new.. I have an old small diesel and I change 3 of 4 glow plugs... 1 was broken... But it still takes very long to start

@@alvesthegreat This is what I've done with my starting problems with my '97 powerstroke 7.3. I changed out my red battery harness to both batteries first off. Then bought a new relay about $70.00 and that sits ontop of the motor. Changed all the $10.00 glow plugs and ran a quart of tyranny oil in each full tank ( to clean injectors ). Fires right up now and turns over so fast. Very important not to cold start a motor before the ok to start light goes out. Burns tips off of glo plugs faster. Open the drain for your water separator.

I have a 99 f250 and have lived with similar issues from the early part of the video I think you need to get a new starter and check your batteries, I recently changed the starter and batteries and it made a big difference in how the truck engine turned over. I’m going to watch the rest of the video to see what you did for a solution.
