Maria just always seemed like such a "cool" skater to me. Not only did I love watching her unique style on the ice, she had this aspect to her that made you think she'd be a blast to go to the bar/dance club with and party... Someone on youtube called her a "Hitchcock blonde," meaning ice on the surface but simmering passion underneath. I thought that was the perfect description. Maria we miss you!!!!

I have a lot of respect for Maria. She skated to some really interesting music choices throughout the years. Music that really hasn't been used by any other skaters since with the exceptions of Scene D'amour, Swan Lake and Malaguenia.

Gorgeous! There's something very satisfying about a WOMAN who can land a 3/Lutz jump and pay rent. ; In contrast, Maria wasn't some brace-faced, flat-chested teenager who went home after skating and slept underneath a Ricky Martin poster at night; rather, Maria was [is] a grown-ass woman-mature, elegant and TALENTED!! :) Anyone have her 1999 Russian Nat'l champs Free-with the 7 triple jumps?
