My AC compressor has no electrical wire that comes out by the power steering reservoir, and I haven’t seen a place to plug it in, I’m having an issue with the clutch not engaging and I’m not sure if the problem is that there is no power going to the pump because I see no wires other than the grounds and the temperature control on top, very confused

Is the ac compressor the same for a automatic?

My accessory belt is squealing a little as the pump kicks in. Should I replace it, or just give it a little more tension? I've been thinking about buying a Krikit Gauge... Thank you for the guide!

If it squealing if might be lose ot damage, apply a bit more tension.

There are two types of squeals that you may be dealing with. First, there is the squeal or screech associated with the "clutch" engaging. If you watch the front face of the compressor, where the belt goes round the pulley. As the A/C needs to cool, its front face collapses against the compressor and "engages" to start spinning the internal mechanisms. So, you will get intermittent squealing WHEN THE A/C CLUTCH engages repeatedly. Tightening will not likely solve this problem. Second, there may be a squeal related to "slipping" of the belt or startup. This would more typically be associated with start-up squeals that go away once the belt "warms" up and things start working. This MIGHT be resolved with a new belt, belt conditioner or more tension. Be careful not to over tense the belt, as that will lead to bearing wear, broken belt, etc.

Always!

How similar would this job be for a 1990 Miata?
@ToolTimeTabor7 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I cannot help you with that. However, the concepts should be virtually the same.
@BD52436 жыл бұрын
1990 MUST remove the undercarriage panel to gain access to the bottom bolts. No need to remove the fan. The P/S pump MUST be tied back as well.

At time 12:56 I'm sure by now you figured out that was your power steering reservoir.

To push the sleeve back in the power steering holder just get a long bolt and put a nut on the other side and use the bolt as a press to push that sleeve out it's much easier

Hey man I know you commented two years ago but I am currently having the problem of pushing the sleeve back any chance you can expand on this I am fairly confused

Not understanding why you needed to remove the ps pump. Couldn’t you just loosen the belt and then remove the ac compressor?

Maybe,. There may be a variety of ways to do this repair. I am showing you what worked for me. The compressor is well concealed down in the lower portion of the engine compartment. To get at the various connections, bolts, etc. it was helpful to move the pump out of the way. The video shows in pretty good detail how confined things are, and that is with the pump out of the way.

@@ToolTimeTabor I’m 6’3 255 pounds. This car is hard for me to work on. I’m no engineer but they definitely could have made these a little easier to work on.
