Playing the greats like Davenport, Graf, etc, taught SERENA on- the-job training. She played the best & became the best. What I find so amazing is her ability to adjust & pump up the volume right on the court. Man, she truly cleaned the court w the Swiss Miss.

Hingis had great technique and consistancy but could not withstand the next generation of power players and was usurped. We now have a situation in the women's game where play has become very one-dimensional from the baseline and volleying is all but extinct. Venus Williams with her reach and athleticism could and should have been a truly great serve and volleyer.

Der Hinko: Stop arguing - no one agrees with you. It's clear that you're a HUGE fan of Hingis, and that's cute (I happen t be a fan of Hingis as well); but to try and swing a match in favor of Hingis without ANY factual information exposes just how biased you are in favor of Hingis. Hingis, being the champion that she is, should've been able to find a way to win this match if she wanted it - she wasn't able to do that on this day in 1999. Serena won this match, fair and square, so your entire statement is only a biased opinion at best. Give honor where honor is due, Queen Serena BEAT Hingis in this match, and THAT is how she won - one call DID NOT determine the outcome of this match.
