Listen closely to the exchange between Tracy and Payne during their embrace. Tracy had seen him moving his head while putting and they went to the practice green after round three and worked on it. "I kept my head down" he said "I know you did I'm so proud of you"

Funny how far they are hitting the ball compared to this telecast from 1999. Mickelson was hitting a 3 iron from 216 yds on second hole. I believe he is 52 years old or thereabouts today and I bet he can use a 5 iron from that same distance today. Stronger lofts and the modern golf ball of today have resulted in how far they hit it nowadays. Even though the pros clobber it a long way it’s still exciting to watch.

Tiger is the best closer of all time. If he has a lead after 54 holes it's almost a guarantee he's winning. If there's anything he hasn't done in majors is go real low and come from behind and win a major. That's definitely not a knock on Tiger. It's just something he hasn't done.

@@FBIStatMajor ok I wasn't sure but I was just saying in my original comment for as unbelievably great Tiger has been in the majors he's never had that final round 65 or something really low that vaulted him from like 6 or 7 shots back to victory. I think this was the most he was ever down going into a final rd and won. He's held off some great charges from other players like that amazing back 9 31 he along with Bob May shot at the PGA. He's just a better closer than having to put up some really low number on Sunday to win.

Johnny Miller was the beginning of the end of good golf coverage. He could never just shut his mouth and nd let the drama unfold. Johnny Miller not giving Payne Stewart a lot of credit. Saying it would be a miracle up and down with a wedge from the fairway? Then saying the odds are quite good that he misses the par putt on 18? Wedge shot was not hard, even being a US Open. The putt was as easy as could be from that distance, with no real risk of running it too far past.
