Future world champion Djabir Said Guerni of Algeria finished 3rd ahead of 1997 world championship silver medalist Norberto Tellez of Cuba. 2000 Olympic champion Nils Schumann finished down in 8th.

Rudisha always ran his races alone the front as well. Yet he did better. But I would love to see the three of them at their peaks in a race with perfect conditions. Probably a few sub 1:40s coming out of that
