Yeah, I've decided that's what I'm going with. It looks clean, accents the best part of the hood, and the shape of it matches my side stripes. I love my hood birds but I guess it's time to change things up.

Yeah, I agree that the bird makes the hood look too busy. I do like the black on the vents of the hood. Or, the black on the cowl part of the hood. Since the bird is to much, the black helps break up all that red. Just my opinion. Besides all that, the hood looks awesome!

I'm leaning towards having the whole black center. If not that then maybe some type of dual stripes like a 30th anniversary. I used to have those and still have the roof and spoiler stripes to match. I'm actually highly considering just painting it gloss black. Normally I hate that but with this hood and all the black on my car, it looks pretty good.

Original 98 TA owner here. Absolutely beautiful car. This hood of yours, really does break up the natural lines Pontiac intended. It screams, "LOOK AT ME," when the car already says that. Having stated this, the best option for color is all red, matching the color of the car and let the artificial lines you've added, speak for themselves. No need to highlight them in black and be obnoxious.

But my whole car says "look at me". lol. That's my style, I want cars that really jump off the page. I agree a WS6 4th gen already does that. I've owned 4 of them since 2001. I want to change things up a bit and give it a different look. I feel this hood gives it a super aggressive look. I still have my blue WS6 car that will retain the stock hood.

Black vents look best followed by the black cowl and vents. Yea, the bird looks busy. Maybe a smaller one but I’m thinking no. I’m waiting on my hood and so glad for your suggestions. Mines a black car with gold accents. Might have gold louvers or flat black cowl and louvers.

Yeah I like that one too. I need to Photoshop black stripes like a 30th style that goes into the top vents. I used to have them and still have the sail panel and spoiler stripes. I like the whole nose black but I feel that needs to be red so the inconsistency blends better with the front bumper. Black and gold will look pretty awesome.

Jason, thank you once again for the video. I think I will not install it myself. Probably go and get it installed at a shop after they study your video. Beautiful hood but so much prep work just to get the hood installed. One concern of mine is t he vents. I feel like on a rain heavy day there would be lots of water getting in and potentially hitting parts like the the alternator since it is close to the power steering. Are you currently working on a solution for that?
@1999TransAmWS6 Жыл бұрын
Actually I do have an idea to shield the motor from rain and also serve as a base to light up the grills too. It may be a few weeks but I'll be working on that part soon. So much to do... knight rider light, get it painted, and working on a safety plate so so don't need to think about hood pins. That'll probably be the next short video.

I love it! I vote for red with black vents and unfortunately no hood bird.
@1999TransAmWS6 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, unfortunately it's time to drop the hood bird. I may put one on a rain plate I'm making on the underside. Red with black vents is the plan. 😎

I noticed you have a trim piece around your washer fluid filler and latch under the hood. Is that part available or was that something custom you did? It looks clean.

It's called the JAAM ram air panel. I bought it from Ws6store. I don't know if they are still available.

So how’s this going? Painted yet?
@1999TransAmWS6 Жыл бұрын
It's in the shop now. It should be done tomorrow. Typical body shop telling me 1 week and it's been almost 3. If all goes well I'm hoping to have an updated video this weekend. I also finished the rain panel which also supports the lights for the top air extractors.

@@1999TransAmWS6 cool! Looking forward to it. I’m told there’s still shipping issues so I’m still waiting for mine. Using your experience to decide if I’m going to ask for a refund or continue waiting.

@@VmanJeff Slight delay again from the body shop....again. It was done but when they were removing the masking on the front black grills, it lifted the paint a little. Not really surprising since it's very thin wire mesh. I figured I'd be keeping a bottle of black touchup paint in the car for bug hits on them. Oh well. They said Monday. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Take it one more step and skin the vents in carbon. Then paint the rest of the hood body color and clear em.
@1999TransAmWS6 Жыл бұрын
I'm not really a fan of the carbon look. My whole car has the black/orange theme so I think just black vents will look the best.
