Got a call today from San Diego CA. Man said he saw me in a video on the internet. He said he wanted to thank me for treating the public with respect and acknowledging their rights. I didn't know the video existed, but there I was for sure. Thank you all for the nice comments, it's refreshing for a public servant to hear kind words. Quick question : Are facilities allowed to display 'no photography' sign and say that it is a request, as long as they acknowledge it is not enforceable? Would they have to word the sign so it is clear it is a request? Last location is proof that changes DO occur through auditing. Good job, and well done to the staff there. I wish our (UK) public buildings were as accommodating as the US.👍

It is against their payment processor's agreement with Visa and Mastercard to charge a fee for the use of a credit card. You can discount for cash, but you cannot surcharge for using credit. Look it up and have some fun.

Wow, this is what I actually want to see. I know the auditors have a reputation of "just wanting to stir up trouble". There may be some like that, but I think most of us supporters of auditors are "Constitutionalists' that want to see our rights preserved. If the government officials are allowed to hide their actions, there is no restraint on corruption. This was great on the part of Mr Jones and his staff, and thanks to you Captain Awesome....

Shocking is right. Given that it's Citrus County, I thought you'd be beaten with a rubber hose. Ten years ago a Citrus County deputy threatened to shoot Mr. Joel Smith because the man told him he was armed and had a concealed carry permit at a traffic stop. It seriously looks like someone high up in that county, maybe the city attorney or something, sent out a memo to all heads of staff to inform them that they can't deny your rights to film. Some of the locations had low level employees who were unaware but quickly informed by a superior, is why I think that.

I think I have to call bullshit. Being a Inverness Homosassa Lecanto resident for almost 20 years. If I didn't know any better I would say you called and got permission in advance. Citrus county is usually one of the most corrupt counties in the state. Glad it went well.

Jeff: I'm the director in the video. I was hired in 2012 to work in Citrus. I'm originally from Brevard County, a born and bred Floridian. We had no warning or preparation. What you see is what you get when you come into the Building Division. All my staff are professional and polite. I'm very proud of them.
