Hi, this is a great video, now I can fix and change the wheel cylinder of my HONDA CIVIC, I have one question, should I need to start the engine when I push down the brake pedal to bleed the brake fluid out from the bleeder ? Thank you

Just have someone step on the brake pedal and hold or I just jam a pry bar between seat and pedal. It stops from any extra fluid coming out.

Good vid, but I am curious, in what state do they pull your rear drums off for an inspection sticker? They don't even do that in Massachusetts.

Some may laugh at all of his safety precautions, but when you’re doing this day in and out, brake dust will cause health issues. Not a bad idea to even wear a mask when doing brakes

Is there any chance you can fit a 1/4 inch ratchet with a 10mm socket to take out the two bolts that hold the wheel cylinder ?

How tight for the bleeder screw? I often get new replacement Wheel Cylinders from various brands and sources, even Honda OE, that the bleeders leak when the brake pedal is depressed. The leak is very slow , but do seep.

So I cant get to this one 10 mm bolt on the rear wheel cylinder for a 02 civic, I understand it's the same thing but I can't fit my 10 mm line wrench to get a better grip around the bolt and my regular 10 mm wrench just keeps slipping, I'm so frustrated

Did the 1991 Honda Accord wheel cylinders come with shims originally? I bought the aftermarket, and the shoes don't seem to be lining up with the push pins. I looked at what I'm guessing is the original cylinder, and it looks like there is some kind of epoxy or something close to it on both sides of the bleeder, on BOTH wheel cylinders. THOUGHTS?

The service manual says to seal the back of the cylinder housing with some silicon sealant. Keeps moisture out I guess.

Ethanol for brake cleaning. Unless you like breathing poison. Put it in a spray bottle. You can buy it fairly cheap if you buy the right grade.

Yeah just keep in mind if it's stuck like that there's two holes that you can put in some bolts in. I believe on the new Hondas it's a larger bolt 12x1.25

Your new Wheel Cylinders came with pins. I have to reuse my old pins. So I insert the pins and they only go in a half inch. So I use all my strength and still nothing. Floppy pins that are ready to fall out. This whole project is taking way way way to long.
