Hello, in 2.0 iVTEC 4WD engine, the camshaft position sensor (CMP) is located in different place. It is close to the oil pan on the bottom of the engine?

In your experience is it just the CPS that needs replaced? I am reading a lot about that codes being caused by a stretched timing chain? Thanks for any advice.

Thank you. I hope that's what is throwing the code on my 2002 CR-V. Does a cam sensor have a tendency to intermittently throw codes when it's going bad or could that be a sign of a different problem?

hello im having trouble with over heating. 2003 honda crv. i replaced both ac sensor 1 and sensor 2... I also replacef both relays, fans are not kicking on. im lost need help please thank you.. new water pump, new alternator, waiting on the thermostat. Thank you 🙏

Hi, and thank you for the video. I got the faulty code P0344 on my Honda CRV 2003, and got tips changing the battery as a kind of attempt for easy fix. I changed the battery, and the engine light turned off. Do you know if this is because I maybe fixed the problem, or does the engine light "forget" the fault when I remove the battery?

+Morten Gjøsund Thanks for watching! Replacing a weak or dead battery could certainly have been the fix for that code. Just keep an eye out and see if the code comes back, because if it does you have a different issue.

I have a 04 honda crv, will it be close to similar? Im not sure this is what the problem is but today i was driving and the car jolted while i was on the road, then my engine light came on and stayed on. I can only think of a few things it may be, but im kinda tight on the budget. I mean i guess it can be sparkplugs maf, or the camshaft. Oh man any input would relieve some stress its our only vehicle to use for work and school for my children.

More likely is the intake camposition sensor or the crankshaft position sensor. Should be next to the one on this video, the crankshaft is on the passenger side, remove the tire, remove to retainer clips from a plastic cover and it is right there. Easy to replace.

2002-2010 Use the same K24 (2.4L i-VTEC) motor (same motor as this 2009 Instruction video). So yes this video will apply to your 2004 model year.

It's more likely that the chain is worn and lengthened, than the sensor being bad. The sensor usually is fine and the cams are slightly out of phase.

Great video. However, there is 2 sensors one is the Exaust camshaft position sensor which I think is the one you replace. The other one is the Intake camshaft position sensor. If I am not mistaken is next to the one you replace towards the front. Does either one of this sensors causes the car not to start? Thank you!

That is the exhaust the intake sensor is much harder to get to

Either sensor goes bad, car won't start, if engine is running, it will stall.

usually is not the sensor, usually something is bad in the engine that triggers the sensor.
