Thanks for the video! Just did this on a 2011 Odyssey. PB Blaster is a must, and if you live in a snow state, your bolts may not be as cooperative. When I got near the end of loosening, I needed to use vice-grips to keep the shaft from spinning because I ended up stripping the hex-key hole. One of the shafts needed a hacksaw. Wear safety glasses and look out for the ABS wire that's pretty close to the link. Finally, if you pre-load your suspension by jacking up the lower control arm by an inch or so, everything lines up nicely. No alignment needed after replacing these (you're not changing the suspension geometry). First one took me three hours, the second one took less than one.

Same deal here. One of the lower bolts required the saw to remove. If you don't want to cut it, you might try to stabilize the sway bar to keep it from moving so much while you wrench on the bolt (the movement steals energy)

What was the name of that tool you used to counter hold while you worked free that bolt attached to the stabilizer bar
@alexobmann93292 жыл бұрын
Initially he seated the box end of a regular 17mm combo wrench over the nut countered by a “5mm hex bit socket”aka Allen socket. U can get them in all drive sizes - assuming this was 1/2” since it was on a breaker bar.

If the only thing you are replacing are the links, and not changing anything else and it does not require any removal of the other suspension pieces, you will not. If you have to take the control arm, strut, or tie rods off, then yes we would recommend having it re-aligned

Is there any possible damage for replacing just one sway bar link?
@1AAuto4 жыл бұрын
+Brian Bolden Thanks for checking us out! There may not be any immediate damage for replacing just one of these, however having one new one and one old one may cause the new one to become bad faster. It is recommended to replace them in pairs.

With one side on jack stands, I raised the control arm w a jack so that the end bar links would line up perfectly flat with the strut and sway bar and then tightened, lowered the control arm and then tightened again. Was this bad to do?
@1AAuto5 жыл бұрын
+Sam Melo As long as you're careful and didn't cross threads...just make sure to get an alignment

If you live in Ohio...dont bother with the allen key...its not gonna work. Sturdy pair of vise grips does the trick and for the driver side bottom I end up using a cutting wheel, it helps if you cut it off close to the joint and then cut the joint off, then grind it down in sections until there is no more. Passenger side was a breeze. Driver side took about 40 minutes.
