@@AdamGdoesFPV I suppose it looks a bit spikey. What's it made of? My brain is always thinking of worst case scenario when I fly (i.e. crashing the plane into someone) and I suppose i think about what part would make first contact! I used to fly a Multiplex Twinstar so love a good twin. However, now that I fly a single engine pusher (old discontinued hobbyking cloudsurfer) I do feel slightly happier that should the worst happen, it would be amongst the better planes to crash into someone :) Anyway, you evidently take a lot of care with your plane and your flying and have no doubt considered this stuff! Daytona FPV yeah I fully understand airspeed I’ve been using them for years just this is first time in iNav. The speed will always be different unless there is zero wind. The airspeed is clearly wrong as when I have a headwind and I’m travelling at a ground speed of 90, the airspeed will read 60 for example. I adjusted the scale and went too far so on flight 2 it was always reading higher than the actual airspeed. I’ll get it about right after a few adjustments 😃

Great video! Nice plane. One thing I found with iNav launch mode is the idle setting. I used to keep mine at the default of 1000 but have since started using it at around 1300 or so depending on the launch throttle setting. So much better like that. It keeps the momentum up after throwing the plane and is a sanity check as well. Your props start spinning at what ever you have the idle setting at as soon as you move your throttle stick up after arming. No more dips after throwing and no more throwing and wondering if the motor will start.
@AdamGdoesFPV4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sam👍🏻 Yeah the idle throttle is something I've always tried to do without where possible, as I like that I can I can just throw it when I'm ready and without props spinning while I'm holding it. However, I do see the value in it and it's something I will be using on my next build, because it's going to be a heavy big Drak and I'll need that little boost to give it a chuck! Be careful though, just because the idle throttle is spinning the props it doesn't mean that the model will definitely detect launch when you throw it😃 Glad to hear it's working well for you, will probably test it on my AR next time I'm out, in prep for using it on the big beast haha

On your next plane Adam, can you do a tutorial on how to laminate your plane - looks amazing, I have awful issues trying to work around servo's and the flaps
@AdamGdoesFPV4 жыл бұрын
Sure, can do. The servos I just laminate over the top of them, nothing clever being done there haha. With the control surfaces, I lam over them as if they are part of the wing and will not be moving. Then take a sharp fresh snap razor to cut around the edges. Where there is excess laminate is just then get the iron on it to stick it on around the curves of the surface. Hope that makes sense.

Did you calibrate your voltage/current sensor? I ask because according to your flight numbers that seems more efficient than I would have expected. I am mostly ardupilot for my planes and calibrate their sensor but when I built a inav platform with a 722se I found it needed considerable alteration for the current sensor to be accurate. I use a benchtop load tester attached to the pdb but you can also use a charger that had a discharge option as long as you can get to the average current draw that you expect from the plane. Then attach the load to one of the power traces that would have gone to an esc while verifying with a wattmeter in between the battery and the flight controller and adjust the settings until both voltage and current are accurate on the flight controller. You'll have a more accurate idea as to how far you can fly and if you use the 80% of battery capacity rule you will usually make it home. (should the winds be in your favor) :^)
@AdamGdoesFPV3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s calibrated and accurate without adjustments, just like all of my F765s turn out to be. Used a watt meter and also checked mah on charger. This plane is more efficient than I imagined too but stats are real 👌🏻

Adam. Your build and instructional videos are always top notch. Keep up the good work. I see you use both MFD and INAV. Which do you like best? I am leaning more towards trying MFD: It seems a little less fussy. I've used INAV but it can be a little wonky and buggy at times for my tastes. Granted it grows and expand but I want a little less hassle factor. Thanks Again. Excellent video as usual.
@AdamGdoesFPV4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the great feedback 😊👍🏻 iNav vs MFD AP is a difficult one. Advantages of iNav: -More control over functionality. -More flight modes -Way cheaper -A lot smaller and lighter to install Advantages of MFDAP: -Minimal config required and works very well -Automated flight modes normally work way better than iNav on stock settings -Less complexity It depends what you want. MFD is more expensive and a lot more bulky to install, but then you don't even need to hook it up to a computer and your up in the air quickly with little effort or room for error. Inav gives you way more control but with increased complexity and risk. Hardware is much nicer and cheaper though. Cheers

@AdamGdoesFPV4 жыл бұрын
Hi, If you look closely it talks about motors and servos (not channels). Servo 2 is only used for pitch, so this is the elevator servo. If you want to use a Y cable for aileron servos you can do, but I just like the default setup and giving each servo it's own slot. I'd only use a Y cable if I was running out of servo outputs on the FC. Hope this helps.

Was your pitot tube covered during power up? It should be covered because it calibrates itself on startup
@AdamGdoesFPV4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it was, the issue was just the scale needed adjusting. With the default scale (Pitot_scale) of 1.000 it was reading too low. The scale value range is 0-100 so I changed it from 1 to 2 to get a sense for what difference that would make (there is no guidance or instructions on this so it was just a guessing game). The second flight was using this scale and you may be able to tell it was always reading a value that was too high. Next I went for a scale of 1.5 and now it seems just right :-) Cheers

Hi, best way to do it is connect the ESC signal cables directly to your rx just for the calibration process and changing settings. That’s how I did mine and it worked as expected first try. The FC doesn’t allow the ESC signal to pass through on boot up

20,000mah of 6S lipo fits and it's still under manufacturers recommended max weight. I wouldn't like to fly it that heavy though. If you really want to get long flights go for Li-ion

@@AdamGdoesFPV Thanks a lot for your quick answer. Indeed I was thinking in using the max liion could fit to get the longest flight possible. Which is your opinion? In my mini talon i have a 4s6s 18650 liion and the performance is nice. In this plane I guess we could load much bigger battery.

I need a very long range rc transmitter. At least 100km with 18 channel. What do you recommend? Does this tracker will help me to use and control my plane by rc transmitter or it just work on autopilot

I suggest that if you don't understand the tracker etc that you really shouldn't be trying to fly 100km. The tracker is for the video feed. The best all out RC gear is Dragonlink, but Crossfire will also do the job.

@@chipsetrc2815 2.6kg is quite heavy, you'd probably have an AUW of around 4.6kg. The recommended max AUW is 5kg so you are within that but I can't imagine it would fly brilliantly at that weight. @AdamGdoesFPV2 жыл бұрын
Hey Simon, I would still highly recommend this plane but I can't really advise you on choosing Nimbus or MCW as i've not flown the Nimbus. I liked the design on the MCW as it has the wing connectors that allow you to put rx / vtx out on the wings really easily. Plus MFD themselves said this was their best ever plane. I didn't buy from MFD direct, their shipping prices were crazy at the time (i did get missing parts replaced from them directly though), I ordered mine from Banggood (purchased, not a freebie). You can get a them at a real decent price when they have them in the CZ warehouse but sadly out of stock at the moment. Plus you get no import charges from BG even if it's from China. Good luck with whichever one you choose 👍🏻

How are you finding the Matek 1.3 vtx and why did you choose it? These have been nothing but terrible in the past.. cheers
@AdamGdoesFPV4 жыл бұрын
Decided to give this a go because there aren't many 1.3g vtx's on the market (at a reasonably low power rating). This on papaer looked great because it is smaller and lighter than the Partom vtx I always use, plus it has a 5v regulator on board which could come in handy. Matek have been making amazing kit so I had high hopes. It didn't wok out for me with the vrx but the vtx has worked great so far, no noticeable difference between this one and the Partom. Cheers

Hi Adam thank you for your video; I really appreciate all the detail that you have included and the flight footage! I am moving more in this direction and have recently been looking at both the TBS Crossfire and DragonLink systems. you caught my attention because you are using DragonLink when it seems most people are going the Crossfire way. Telemetry is important to me. I see some pros and cons with both systems and would be very interested in your thoughts. Would you buy DragonLink today if you were buying new? Thanks so much
@AdamGdoesFPV4 жыл бұрын
Hey, I'm not really bothered about telemetry and haven't used it with DL so probably not the best person to advise you. For performance of the control link I'd go with Dragonlink again... but Crossfire seems better availability, support and I believe more features. Probably would still be Dragonlink for me. Cheers

Both great planes! MT is a really good all rounder and I'd say better for more proximity and acro flying, it's also way cheaper. The MCW is heavy but super efficient and stable in the air for nice long range cruising. A huge advantage and one of the reasons I built the MCW is it's super quiet even on full throttle, so I can do nice late nigh summer flights without bothering anyone in the area. It's also a much more modern design. I can see myself flying the MCW more than the MT
