And SRV sang and played at the same time, unlike BB who never did. KWS does sing himself on some later videos and he does a really good job. The Reese is something else isn't he. I remember him when he was dark and skinny playing with SRV and Double Trouble, he is with JB most of the time now and is incredible. Great sax here too.😚

@@physiciansassist1 I'm with you here. I find JB overplays constantly too. KWS is definitely got the Texas/SRV blues approach down cold. I find him much easier to get into. Damn you need a little space around the notes!! GHEESH!!

His tone is coming from his hands. 🤷🏿‍♂️ The idea of space came from horn players and singers that have to take a breath...guitarists don't so if you can make the endless notes work...I thought he did. Just my one opinion.

That would be awesome indeed for another great talent to come along and blast the blues back into the mainstream like SRV did but sadly i predict that will never happen again because mainstream music fans’ overall taste in music has plummeted so far down in the last 25 years that they can’t appreciate any real music AT ALL anymore...only crap really sells these days. The only consolation is that access to great music like this video is quick and easy thanks to the KZbin and the internet 👍 it’s just too bad that most great musicians these days can barely make a living since real music is considered “alternative” or “fringe” entertainment these days with only a small minority of music buyers like me interested in it

Love those lipstick pickups. Stevie’s old 84’Danelectro with those lipsticks was an awesome axe. Not as well known as his Classic Strat, but a killer guitar nonetheless
@matthewleedavisofficial
@matthewleedavisofficial 4 жыл бұрын
Actually the orange strat (named by kenny as copper boy) does not have true lipstick pickups. They look like them but the chrome is just a metal pickup cover on those on that particular guitar. Underneath is a set of custom wound fender pickups from the builder that kenny prefers at the custom shop.

Finally, I've seen someone wipe the floor with Joe Bonamassa on stage! As soon as KWS did that one bend at 13:59 and kept it going, he had JB. People are so dumb. KWS released this song 27 years ago, only five years after SRV's death. He has played the same SRV inspired licks the whole damn time. Is he supposed to completely change it now? He has many other songs with completely different licks. I mean slow blues is a relatively small portion of his show, yet you get all the retards complaining on here over one video..

@leovilla1857

@@IvoRaptor Old comment, but I agree. Joe's playing became unique because he was able to combine the best of just about every blues player into his playing, with the speed of Eric Johnson to make his own style. While I like hearing Kenny Wayne Shepherd's playing, I'm not enjoying it because of him, I'm enjoying it because my ear thinks it's listening to SRV. I could listen to While We Cry all day, but I don't think it of as a new song written by a guitarist, I think of it as a tribute to SRV. We all love SRV but to ONLY study him is to ONLY do an impersonation of every time you're playing. No matter how good that impersonation is, Kenny Wayne Shepherd is not SRV. Mostly sounding like SRV isn't all that bad because he could do great things with it like on While We Cry, but ONLY sounding like SRV is stopping KWS from being his own player. He's a talented guitarist, I hope he just reaches out to new influences
