Relax while watching rheinbahn trams at the start of service at the Heerdt depot. This Easter week morning there is less traffic on the roads. the Rheinbahn runs punctually with all lines at the beginning of the shift and thus offers customers a reliable transport service in local public transport in Düsseldorf, Neuss and the surrounding area.
The entrance to the depot at the intersection of Kevelaerer Strasse, Eupener Strasse, Burgunderstrasse and Heerdter Landstrasse is covered with a distinctive residential building. On the ground floor of the left wing there is a stationery shop with a post office. The building was built between 1928 and 1929 according to plans by the Düsseldorf architects Eduard Lyonel Wehner and Wilhelm Elmpt for the Rheinische Bahngesellschaft AG. In 1997 it was entered in the city's list of monuments.[1][2] It is considered an example of expressionist brick architecture in the Rhineland.[3] The assembly consists of a four-storey building with several wings, to the side of the gate-like passage for the trams a tower construction sets an urban accent on the street corner. This is divided by pilaster strips and crowned by battlements. On the four corner battlements there were originally winged wheels as a symbol of rail traffic. They were based on the logo of the Rheinische Bahngesellschaft. One of the lions that once adorned the Ludwig-Loewe-Haus, which from 1939 was the home of the Rheinbahn headquarters at the main station in Düsseldorf, still stands on the site.

In 2021, 165 million passengers traveled on the Rheinbahn’s 208 light rail vehicles, 98 trams and 475 buses. Over 178,000 subscribers trust the service of our company.
3,370 people - including 151 trainees - from 51 nations work at the Rheinbahn. This makes the transport company one of the largest employers in the region."
