Great video guys, please keep going into detail on what you’re doing with the rebuild as you’re doing it 🙏
@sand_to_outback2 ай бұрын
thanks for the support mate! we hope our videos give enough detail for someone else hoping to find the information needed for a similar rebuild, if we get enough interest we might be releasing even more in depth videos later on down the track!

Great video guys but it’s actually called a bed plate not a girdle, a girdle is used to join individual caps type.

cheers mate, wasn't completely sure on what they were called & couldn't find much info on it so we referred to it as a girlde but good to know it's called a bed plate, thanks for sharing!

I enjoy your work together you complement each other well, it’s good for a strong partnership and working on this weapon of an engine it’s a win win. They are so strong you will be so confident going forward. Toyota is what it is for the history this engine has given them we just wish they could make a stronger transmission that’s not made out of glass.

Loving the videos guys - you're doing a great job. My FTE in my 105 has clocked over 400,000 kms now - I wonder if your series will tip me into rebuilding my own engine at the 500K km mark... The $$$ are scary !!

My engine has 440 on it. I had the sump off recently to do big end bearings and everything looked as new in there. Very little wear on bearings and overall looked very clean. I think with 500k on yours it could look very similar. There would be much satisfaction in building an engine from scratch tho

If its not got any problems don't touch it. Only thing id recommend is big end bearings, they do tend to wear at the 3-400km mark on FT/E's. That and also check rockershafts for wear..

Cheers mate, appreciate the support! The cost is definitely scary but will be absolutely worth it in a touring rig! Agree with the comments below on checking the big end bearings & rockershafts too!

Did you clean the new engine block completely (including the bores and all oil galleries) after you got it?
@sand_to_outback2 ай бұрын
Yeah we did a check over everything and cleaned what we needed to before putting it all together!

Awesome content, please keep it coming, I’m doing exactly the same job atm, so very helpful, may I ask what workshop manual you’re using and where can I get it??
@sand_to_outback2 ай бұрын
Thanks mate, appreciate it! The manual is a free online one, we'll chuck the link in the video description! Otherwise, you can buy a hard copy online & don't quote me.. I think it's called '1HD-FTE Engine Repair Manual' from Toyota

You didn’t mention it, but I hope the head recondition included new valve guides? You mentioned re-conditioned valves and new valve seals but nothing about new valve guides? 🤷♂️
@sand_to_outback2 ай бұрын
The machine shop measures valve guides and said they were still within spec so we didn't get them done, in hindsight we probably should have replaced them anyway but we'll see how they go
